A host of key issues, including lifting of restrictions for easy movement of goods services, opening new transport connectivity and ways to ensure food security, were discussed today by Foreign Ministers of SAARC countries, ahead of the summit-level deliberations tomorrow. External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj pitched for focussing on 3 Cs -- Culture, Commerce and Connectivity and particularly emphasised on the need for innovative ways to connect the countries through road and rail, sea and air or through integrated multi-modal transport.

Seeking to boost mutual cooperation in trade and investment sectors between India and Russia's Astrakhan, a delegation from the region has expressed interest in enhancing engagement with Indian companies. During a presentation on trade, business and investment opportunities in the Astrakhan region on November 19, oil, gas, agro-processing, ship building, renewable energy, aquaculture and logistics were identified as major areas with considerable potential for mutual collaboration, said an official statement from the mission.

Minister of Commerce and Industry of India Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman and U.S. Trade Representative Ambassador Mr. Michael Froman met in New Delhi on November 25, 2014 for the eighth ministerial-level meeting of the India-United States Trade Policy Forum (TPF). The two governments signaled their readiness to enhance bilateral trade and investment ties in a manner that promotes economic growth and job creation in both India and the United States.

The government of Germany is keen to partner with Indian industries in the fields of food and agriculture cooperation. This was stated by Dr Hermann Schloder, who heads the German federal ministry of food and agriculture’s trade promotion and quality policy division, at the Confederation of Indian Industry’s (CII) Agro Tech 2014, which concluded in Chandigarh recently.
