A leading Singaporean company has evinced keen interest in procunng soft rice (Komal C7taul) from Assam. The rice variety is widely grown in Assam which has low starch content due to which the company is now in close touch with the Agricultural & Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) to cany forward its deal.

India and China are working to set up a joint working group aimed at giving a fillip to bilateral investment and also to address trade related matters. The two countries also evinced interest in fostering favourable investment climate including greater market access and speedy visa facilitation. erce and Industry Ministry Anand Sharma and his Chinese counterpart Chen Deming led their business teams at the ninth session of the India-China Joint Group on Economic Relations, Trade, Science and Technology.

Oman and India are in pursuit of augmenting their bilateral trade which has already reached a $5 billion mark, to further heights. “Oman and India share a strong bond spanning thousands of years which are integral to the ongoing trade and commerce transactions,” J S Mukul, Indian Ambassador to the Sultanate, said. “The Indexpo, featuring more than 100 key business people representing more than 70 companies specialised in diverse sectors, will be a major landmark in the Oman-India trade relations.”

More export sectors may soon get access to cheaper credit, with the commerce department planning to expand the list of beneficiaries under the interest subvention scheme as a measure to boost sagging exports. "The commerce secretary has already talked to the secretary of department of financial services on extending the interest subvention scheme to more sectors," a senior commerce department official told ET.
