Pranab to clear air on wheat exports soon

Amid confusion over lifting of ban on wheat exports, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee on Wednesday said the issue was being discussed with the Commerce Ministry and the matter would be sorted out soon. Codex chief Sanjay Dave to unveil action plan; stresses on food safety

Newly-elected Codex International chief Sanjay Dave will soon come out with the Codex Strategic Plan for the period 2014-19. This was confirmed by Dave himself in an email interaction with FnB News. The new chairman will now lead a team to finalise the document for the benefit of 184-member countries of the Codex Alimentarius Commission, which is a collection.....

82 firms to export 10 lakh tonnes of non-basmati rice

State-owned trading firm STC is among the 82 exporters that have been allowed to export 10 lakh tonnes of non-basmati rice at a fixed export price of USD 400 per tonne, the commerce ministry today said. "The document submission to DGFT for export of 10 lakh tonnes of non-basmati rice would commence on Thursday and will close on August.....

Bangladesh to import 50,000T of rice

Bangladesh's state grains buyer issued a tender on Wednesday to import 50,000 tonnes of non-basmati parboiled rice to replenish reserves, a food official said.The last date of submission of offers is Aug. 8, with validity up to Aug. 16 and the rice is to be shipped in 40 days after signing the deal.In its previous tenders for 50,000 tonnes each of rice and wheat.....
