India: Horticulturists predict bumper mango crop

Good news awaits mango lovers in the coming months. If predictions of the horticulture department proves true, varieties of mango are going to be available in huge quantity in the market. Despite the recent hailstorm which caused a loss of 30-40 per cent to the crop, the department is hopeful of huge production.

India, European Union closer to free trade agreement
13April 2011
India and the European Union hope to sort out the remaining issues to a free trade agreement in their next round of meeting of officials in May in New Delhi. A successful meeting of officials in Brussels last week has narrowed down the differences and raised the chances of a deal being inked by July this year.

Wheat export ban: Government to decide between politics and excess grain

The record wheat crop of 84 million tonnes has turned into a ticking time bomb for a decision-weary UPA. Though analysts have begun mooting wheat exports to deal with India's problem of plenty, the government is finding it tough to reach a decision.

Argentina: Makes first export of pomegranates to Europe
13April 2011
The first boxes of a total of 15,000 planned for its first commercial harvest of the Wonderful variety pomegranates by the company "Granada de los Andes", were sent. This first harvest grew in 67 hectares in "Campo Grande del Acequión", which were planted in 2008.
