India’s exports post 37.1 p.c. rise during 2010-11

Braving the slow economic growth and declining demand from the Western markets, India’s exports posted an impressive 37.1 per cent rise at $245.9 billion for the fiscal ending 2010-11. During March 2011, the growth stood at 43.9 per cent at $29.1 billion. Releasing the figures here, Union Commerce and Industry Minister, Anand Sharma said India’s exports have not only posted a phenomenal growth but have also surpassed the growth target of $220 billion set for 2010-11.

Selected varieties of non-basmati rice may be exported
20April 2011
Almost 10,000 tonnes of selected varieties of non-basmati rice may finally be exported after lying in ports for around two months. An empowered group of ministers on food (EGoM) had allowed export of up to 1.5 lakh tonnes of selected, premium non-basmati rice as far back as February 9, lifting a restriction that lasted almost two years.

India-Netherlands Cooperation in Meat and Poultry Processing

India and the Netherlands are to cooperate in meat and poultry processing in a big way.India has sent a delegation to the Netherlands to the Product Boards Livestock, Meat and Eggs (PVE), to understand the Dutch processes relating to meat and poultry processing.

Fruit and vegetable prices still falling in Russia
20April 2011
Russian fruit and vegetable index of Fruit-Inform Project shows that fruits and vegetables have further fallen in price in Russia last week. This time the decrease of prices was less sharp than a week earlier and averaged only 0.7%. However, in the first week of April fruit and vegetables prices fell by 10.4% at once that is the record-breaking rate of weekly price decrease in 2011.
