Wheat sowing up 2 pc to 334.17 lakh hectares till Jan 9 of current rabi season: Govt Area under coverage for wheat rose 2 per cent to 334.17 lakh hectares till January 9 of the ongoing rabi (winter-sown) season, according to the government data. Wheat acreage stood at 328.04 lakh hectares in the same period of the preceding rabi season. Sowing of wheat, a major rabi crop, generally starts from October.
