Karnataka exporters are set for a major boost in global market access as the India-UK Free Trade Agreement comes into force on July 15, opening up significant opportunities for trade and investment, British Deputy High Commissioner for Karnataka and Kerala Chandru Iyer said. Speaking at an event organised by the Bangalore Chamber of Industry and Commerce (BCIC) here late Saturday night, Iyer said the agreement would eliminate or significantly reduce tariffs on nearly 99 per cent of Indian exports to the United Kingdom, marking a major shift in bilateral trade relations.

Uttar Pradesh contributes 26 per cent of the country's total mango production despite accounting for only about 9 per cent of the area under mango cultivation, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said on Friday. Addressing the inaugural function of the Uttar Pradesh Mango Festival 2026 here, Adityanath said, 'When it comes to mangoes in the country, Uttar Pradesh has its own distinct place. The state accounts for 26 per cent of the country's mango production while the crop is grown on only about 9 per cent of the land under mango cultivation.'

India's onion exports may slow down for short duration: Indian govt.
As of now, onion exports are normal, with about 1.50 lakh tonnes exported during June 2026, the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution said. 'However, traders expect that the pace of onion exports may slow down for a short duration primarily because fresh crops from Pakistan and China are available at competitive rates in key export destinations such as the Gulf countries, Sri Lanka and the Far East,' it said in a statement.

In a major boost to the horticulture sector, cherries and plums sent from the state has received an encouraging response from consumers in the markets of Oman. A first-ever consignment of fresh cherries and plums was exported to Oman a few days ago. Horticulture Minister Jagat Singh Negi flagged off the inaugural consignment of 400 kg of cherries and 400 kg of plums.

Punjab pushes mushroom farming with 40% subsidy scheme.
The Punjab government has announced a subsidy of up to Rs 80,000 for farmers to establish small mushroom production units as part of its efforts to promote crop diversification and enhance farm incomes. The financial assistance will be provided under the state's 'State Plan' scheme, under which the Department of Horticulture will offer a 40 per cent subsidy, subject to a maximum of Rs 80,000, to eligible beneficiaries.

Indian exporters are seeing a sharp surge in orders from the United Kingdom ahead of the India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) coming into force on July 15, as buyers move quickly to take advantage of the proposed tariff cuts. Textile and garment exporters are seeing 12% higher orders from the UK than last year while orders of leather handbags and shoes are up 20%. Gems and jewellery exporters said consignments worth $6.5 million are ready for shipment, and chemical exporters expect a 30-40% rise in shipment to the UK.

The legal scrubbing of India-EU free trade agreement (FTA) will be completed in the next 10-12 days, and the deal would be inked by December 31, commerce and industry minister Piyush Goyal said Thursday. 'The EU FTA legal scrub will be over in about 10 or 12 days, and then we are looking at approval from the (European) Commission and the Parliament by end of this year,' Goyal said at a media event. 'That should be done.'
