India Targets $1 Trillion Exports This Year, $2 Trillion in Five Years: Union Commerce and Industry Minister Shri Piyush Goyal. Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Shri Piyush Goyal today said that India has set a target of achieving exports worth 1 trillion dollars this year and 2 trillion dollars over the next five years, asserting that this would be the true hallmark of an Atmanirbhar Bharat. Addressing the website launch ceremony of Bharatiya Vyapar Mahotsav in New Delhi, he said exports this year have reached 863 billion dollars, nearly 5 per cent higher than the previous year, despite global challenges. Geopolitical crisis, weather may help India export 2 mt of wheat, says USDA. India will likely export at least two million tonnes (mt) of wheat, given the current developments in the global grains market, including geopolitical crisis and weather, with US production of the cereal estimated at a 57-year low. 'With hefty supplies, the (Indian) government has recently removed the wheat export ban in place since May 2023, and the country is forecast to become a net exporter, albeit small relative to global trade,' said the US Department of Agriculture (USDA). FTAs, lower import duties, better business environment to boost net FDI flows: ADB chief economist. Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), reduction in import tariffs and improvement in business environment would encourage higher net foreign capital inflows into India, which have moderated in recent years, ADB Chief Economist Albert Park has said. During 2021-22, India attracted net Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) of USD 38.6 billion, which came down to USD 28 billion in FY23 and further fell to USD 10.2 billion in FY24.
