The escalating war situation in West Asia is casting a shadow over the export prospects of Totapuri mangoes from the Rayalaseema region of Andhra Pradesh, raising serious concerns among farmers and exporters ahead of the upcoming harvest season. Farmers in the erstwhile Chittoor district comprising Chittoor, Tirupati and Annamayya districts fear a major price crash as shipping consignments of mango pulp and juice products bound for Gulf countries have reportedly been stalled due to disruptions in international trade routes.

War in Iran hits fruit exports from Mumbai.
The ongoing war between US-Israel and Iran has started impacting Indian exports, especially of agricultural produce, to West Asia, especially the Gulf nations. In Maharashtra, more than a thousand containers of fruits are stuck at Mumbai’s Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA), India’s largest container handling port also known as Nhava Sheva, leaving exporters distraught. Besides, farmers are also facing hurdles in selling their produce in the domestic market as prices have crashed by almost 20 per cent. The bad news has come in the month of Ramzan, when fruits are in great demand.

Iran war impact: Govt mulling diversion of stranded cargo to new markets.
India has begun assessing whether export cargoes stranded or in transit due to the escalating West Asia crisis can be diverted to alternative markets, as the government moves to cushion the impact of the disruption on outbound shipments. The commerce and industry ministry has asked goods exporters to provide details on the scope for rerouting consignments currently stuck in transit or awaiting shipment, people familiar with the matter said.

Centre approves procurement of 1.25 lakh tonnes of rabi crops in Telangana.
The Agriculture Ministry has approved procurement of over 1.25 lakh tonnes of 2026 rabi season crops in Telangana at the minimum support prices (MSP) The procurement will be done under the price support scheme (PSS). The process will include the procurement of 29,860 tonnes of gram, 37,020 tonnes of urad, 55,285 tonnes of groundnut and 3,690 tonnes of sunflower.

Onion exporters from Maharashtra have urged the Mauritian authorities to open up their import regime to more suppliers, arguing that wider access to the island nation’s market would improve competition, ensure transparent pricing and help farmers secure better returns for their produce. Industry participants say the current system, under which only a limited number of exporters are authorised to supply onions to Mauritius, restricts trade and limits the potential benefits of exports for growers in key producing districts such as Nashik and Ahmednagar.
