APEDA Showcases India’s Agri-Food Strengths as Export Partner at World Food India 2025. The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry participated as the Export Partner in the 4th edition of World Food India (WFI) 2025, held at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. With 142 exhibitors and 120 stalls, APEDA’s pavilion showcased the diversity of India’s agri-food sector, including GI-tagged products, Basmati rice, millets, organic produce, livestock products, and value-added foods. The pavilion also featured dedicated thematic zones such as the GI Gallery, Fresca Zone, Basmati Export Development Foundation stall, and a BHARTI Zone focused on startups and innovation. India unlikely to agree delinking GI for basmati rice from FTA with EU. India will likely not accept any proposal from the European Union to decouple the issue of the protected Geographical Indication (GI) tag for basmati rice from the purview of the Indo-EU free trade agreement (FTA), say analysts. 'Recent reports highlighting concerns over recognising Pakistan’s application for GI tag to basmati rice are likely to complicate the FTA talks. The EU may adopt procedural or diplomatic bridges to avoid the dispute being a dealbreaker and hence look at decoupling it,' said S Chandrasekaran, a historian on basmati GI. India-Asean officials to meet next week in Jakarta to resume goods trade pact review. Trade negotiators from India and the 10-nation ASEAN bloc will meet in Jakarta from Monday to push forward the review of their goods trade pact, an official said. The official said that the work on the review of the Asean-India Trade in Goods Agreement has progressed well, but it is still some distance from conclusion for any announcement at the 22nd Asean-India Summit on October 27 in Kuala Lumpur. Putin orders government to soften trade imbalance with India. Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his anticipation for his upcoming visit to India in early December and has ordered the government to devise measures to soften the trade imbalance with India due to the heavy import of crude by New Delhi. Tracking of pledged $100 billion investments by EFTA in works, says Swiss minister. India and the four-nation European Free Trade Association (EFTA) will put in place a mechanism to monitor the investments made by the bloc as part of their Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA), which came into effect on Wednesday, Switzerland's state secretary for economic affairs Helene Budliger Artieda said. This is significant as the EFTA nations have committed to investing $50 billion within 10 years and an additional $50 billion in the five years after that under the trade pact contingent on India's nominal gross domestic product growing to around 9.5% in dollar terms over the next 15 years. Union Cabinet Approves Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses for 2025-26 to 2030-31. The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has approved the Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses- a landmark initiative aimed at boosting domestic production and achieving self-sufficiency (Aatmanirbharta) in pulses. India’s rabi crops’ MSPs hiked 4-10%, self sufficiency mission on pulses approved. The Cabinet on Wednesday approved 'Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses' with an estimated investment of Rs. 11,440 crore over five years period to raise India’s production to 35 million tonnes (mt) from current about 25 mt. Horti exports: Hry to set up warehousing infra at Hisar airport. In a significant move, the Haryana govt will develop state-of-the-art warehousing infrastructure at Maharaja Agrasen Airport, Hisar, aimed at ensuring seamless storage and transportation of horticultural crops. The initiative seeks to preserve quality and freshness through controlled temperatures, boost agricultural exports, and help farmers realise maximum profits from their produce. Under this initiative, the Haryana State Warehousing Corporation will set up modern cold storage and air cargo facilities at the airport premises. These facilities will enable the preservation and export of farmers' produce in line with international standards, thereby further strengthening Haryana's position as one of the country's leading states in horticultural production.
