Government extends RoDTEP by six months to support exporters. The government on Tuesday extended a key export support measure-the Remission of Duties and Taxes on Exported Products (RoDTEP) Scheme-by six months till March 2026, providing relief to exporters facing strain due to higher US tariffs. Trade deal talks with Qatar from next week. Commerce and industry minister Piyush Goyal will visit Doha next week to kick off talks for a bilateral trade agreement, adding another Gulf nation to the bouquet of countries negotiating trade treaties with India. UAE already has a pact with India. Sources said the minister will travel to Singapore as well, an ASEAN member with which India has a Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (CECA) but is not satisfied with the outcomes. He will also meet European trade commissioner Maros Sefcovic on the sidelines of the G20 meet in South Africa in Nov. India and EU are trying to conclude an FTA by the year-end. Indian research centre develops new banana clones for 2025 . The ICAR–National Research Centre for Banana (NRCB) in Tamil Nadu is developing two new high-yielding and climate-resilient banana clones that are expected to be launched by late 2025 or early 2026. NRCB Director R Selvarajan said the institute has safeguarded 520 banana varieties collected across India, forming one of the largest banana gene banks. India's trade pact with EFTA bloc to take effect from Wednesday. India's trade pact with four European nations, including Switzerland and Norway, will take effect from Wednesday, boosting exports of textiles, leather and food products while attracting investments, a government statement said. Under the Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement, signed last March after nearly 16 years of negotiations, the European Free Trade Association - comprising Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein - will cut tariffs on 92.2% of tariff lines for India, while New Delhi will offer concessions on 82.7% of tariff lines covering 95.3% of EFTA exports. India and Russia are looking to expand their cooperation in trade and education in the agriculture sector by removing some bottlenecks, but given the resistance to move forward with suitable reforms, it may take time to reach some agreements. Air cargo demand extends growth streak to 6 months driven by trade shifts and strong asia performance. Global air cargo markets continued their positive trajectory in August 2025, with demand rising 4.1% year-on-year, marking the sixth consecutive month of growth, according to the latest data released by the International Air Transport Association (IATA). Total demand, measured in cargo tonne-kilometres (CTK), saw international operations rise even faster at 5.1%.
