USDA Proposes Livestock Tracking System

The U.S. Department of Agriculture proposed a new, mandatory system Tuesday for tracking cattle, poultry and other farm animals to pinpoint the origin of diseases that can spread through herds and halt exports. More than 60 pesticides banned in other countries in use in India

Many pesticides which have been banned or severely restricted in some countries are in use in Kerala and other States. Kerala banned the use of 15 pesticides in May this year. However, about a dozen pesticides which were either banned or severely restricted in other countries continue to be used in Kerala, C. Over 84,000 Crores Invested in Food Processing Sector in India

As per the competitiveness report of the National Manufacturing Competitiveness Council, there are 25, 367 registered food processing units in the country whose total invested capital is Rs. 84,094 crores. Cold Chain Infrastructure for Processing of Fruits & Vegetables

In order to minimize wastage of fruit and vegetables, Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MFPI) is encouraging setting up of cold chain facilities.
