The government may consider allowing more exports of non-basmati rice, a top commerce ministry official said today. Last month, the government had allowed exports of one million tonnes of non-basmati rice, lifting over three-year old ban. Lift ban on wheat, premium non-basmati exports, says House panel

A House panel has called for lifting the ban on wheat and premium non-basmati rice exports at the earliest. This, the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Commerce said, is an immediate solution to the food grain glut in the country. India extends import ban on eggs, livestock products

The Indian government has refused to lift a ban on the import of eggs and livestock products from countries that reported Avian flu cases in the bird flu crisis of 2004. The ban relates to countries affected during the bird flu crisis of 2004. USDA livestock traceability proposal open for public comment

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service has issued a proposed rule to establish general regulations for improving the traceability of U.S. livestock moving interstate when animal disease events take place.
