Centre boosts capacity, but grain storage still remains a concern

More than 25,000 go-downs with an incremental capacity of 29 million tonne have been set up since 2001 under the Grameen Bhandaran Yojana to boost the storage of crops, according to an official statement, as the country has been striving to scale up production to feed its growing population. Demand for Indian rice up on higher Thailand price

Nabard sets apart Rs 2,000 cr for warehousing infrastructure

The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard) has set apart an amount of Rs 2,000 crore during the current financial year for creation of warehousing infrastructure in different States. Incidentally, loans disbursed to State Governments by Nabard have crossed the Rs 1-lakh crore mark as on September 30.
