Malaysia - Beef imports increase 11%

Indian carabeef in 2010. Carabeef is mainly sold through traditional markets and utilised at low-end foodservice outlets. Malaysia was also the eighth largest market for Australian and Chinese beef exports and ranked 12th for NZ beef in 2010. During the 12 months to June 2011, Malaysia's beef imports from India jumped 14%, to represent 83% of total beef imports. Volumes from Australia also surged 56% .....

India: Onion export price raised by USD 25/tonne

The government today raised the export price of onion by USD 25 to USD 300 a tonne, for the second time in a month, in order to discourage shipments and check prices of the commodity in the retail market. Ethiopia to Import 300,000 Tons of Wheat to Build Reserves

Ethiopia will import 300,000 metric tons of wheat for reserves and to assure food supply amid drought, Prime Minister Meles Zenawi said.
