Manmohan seeks more Chinese market for Indian goods
14April 2011
India and China Wednesday said they were poised to enhance bilateral commerce to $100 billion by 2015, but concerns remain on trade imbalance in favour of Beijing.To reduce the deficit, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh asked more market access to Indian pharmaceuticals, IT and farm goods during his ‘very productive warm, friendly meeting’ with Chinese President Hu Jintao, said National Security Advisor Shivshankar Menon.

India's litchi production likely to rise by 15%
14April 2011
Consumers of litchi will have it good this year as production of the important sub-tropical evergreen fruit is expected to see a rise by about 15% during the period on back of favourable climatic condition.Grown in 71,878 hectares of land across the country, 423 tonnes of litchi was produced in India last year, according to National Horticulture Board (NHB), set up by the central government in 1984 as an autonomous society.

Viet Nam tightens controls on imported milk
14April 2011
Only milk and dairy products that meet hygiene standards will be allowed to be sold in Viet Nam, the Food Hygiene and Safety Department said.The announcement follows the latest milk scandal to hit China that resulted in the deaths of three new-born babies.

EU: Marketing of Indian grapes at turning point
14April 2011
Despite lower export volumes of Indian grapes, Pe De, Holland knows how to control its volumes. "We are only at the beginning of the season, but we are on track, " said Robert Kraaijeveld. "We see the same pattern as other years, sales of Indian grapes after a few weeks lead time is really going to start from week 16.
