Parliament approves negotiation framework for FTA with India : Thailand
21April 2011
The negotiation framework for a comprehensive free-trade agreement with India was finally endorsed by Parliament today, ensuring that the bilateral talks will be completed this year.The full FTA will expand two-way trade to over $13 billion in 2014 after it is implemented next year, Deputy Commerce Minister Alongkorn Ponlaboot said.

Govt should allow wheat, rice exports: Pawar
21April 2011
The government should allow exports of wheat and rice as the country has huge grain stocks and global prices are favourable, Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar said on Wednesday.Pawar's remarks came a day after forecast of normal monsoon rains which could boost farm output and encourage exports.

Nashik grape exports dip 58%
21April 2011
Nashik district, the grape capital of India, has recorded a fall of 58 per cent in export of grapes in FY 2010-11 (December-April season) as compared to that of last year due to unseasonal rains that had hit the vineyards during November 2010, causing production losses from 30 to 70 per cent in vineyards in Nashik district, earning foreign currency amounting to Rs 100 crores.

Farmers adopt new technology for high groundnut output
21April 2011
In what could revolutionalise groundnut farming system in India, a few dozens farmers in Gujarat have adopted Chinese-born mulching technology which has the capacity to yield up to three times more output than the existing conventional techniques in India. Initially, the planting was done on pilot basis in 50 acres just to experience the benefit of this technology.
