Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and Rural Development Shri Shivraj Singh Chauhan's ' Vikasit Bharat Sankalp Padyatra ' reached Bijla Jod , Chanda Grahan Jod and Bhairunda villages of Budhni Assembly constituency on the second day today , where Shri Shivraj Singh discussed with the people present about the public welfare schemes of the Central Government. During the padyatra, Shri Chauhan first met the youth in Bijla Jod and interacted with them , during which he praised Operation Sindoor and the valor and valor of our armies. Then he also interacted with the beneficiaries of Street Vendor Scheme and Vishwakarma Scheme. After that, Shri Shivraj Singh reached Chanda Grahan Jod , where he interacted with the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana , Water Harvesting and Jal Sanrakshan Yojana. At Bhairunda too, the Union Minister interacted with the beneficiaries about the schemes of the Centre including women empowerment. During the padyatra, Shri Shivraj Singh and wife Sadhana Singh also performed traditional tribal dance with bow and arrow in their hands.

A team of US officials is expected to visit India in the coming weeks for the next round of discussions on the proposed interim trade agreement between the two countries, sources said. The visit gains importance as India and the US are likely to agree on an interim trade agreement before July 9, with New Delhi pushing for full exemption from the 26 per cent reciprocal tariff on domestic goods.

Kenyan exporters of vegetables turned to India as one of the alternative markets for their produce after the European Union tightened checks on chemical residues, locking out non-compliant supplies. Earnings from sales of fresh vegetables surged more than five times last year despite the value of total exports more than halving because of stricter checks by the 27-nation EU trading bloc.

India’s trade negotiations with the US is entering the final leg, with Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal set to meet members of export promotion councils (EPCs) on Tuesday, and the US trade team likely to arrive in India next month for talks as New Delhi aim to wrap up negotiations by the end of the 90-day reciprocal tariffs pause, which ends on July 9, The Indian Express has learnt. The consultation meeting with EPCs is scheduled after Goyal led the Indian delegation to Washington last week, where he met US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick to advance trade talks. India is seeking the elimination of the 26 per cent reciprocal tariff and duty-free entry for labour-intensive export items such as textiles and footwear in the US.

French sporting goods retailer Decathlon plans to double its sourcing of goods from India once the country's free trade agreement (FTA) with the European Union (EU) is finalised, Sankar Chatterjee, the chief executive of the company's India operations, told ET. Decathlon Sports India's Chatterjee said if the FTA comes through as expected by December, the Indian production market for sporting goods could see a boom.

The 15th BRICS Trade Ministers’ Meeting was held on 21st May 2025 under the Presidency of Brazil, with the theme, 'Strengthening Global South Cooperation for More Inclusive and Sustainable Governance.' India used the platform to oppose export controls among BRICS members, encouraging mutual support within the bloc. As India prepares to assume the BRICS Presidency in 2026, it commended the solution-oriented approach of the Brazilian Presidency in addressing critical trade issues.

Tensions have flared between Indian and US regulatory bodies after the United States rejected 15 mango shipments from India, citing procedural issues during treatment. Indian officials have pushed back, accusing US inspectors of bypassing standard protocols, causing unnecessary rejection of approximately 25 tonnes of premium mangoes. The mangoes, originating from 10 different Indian exporters, were processed at a US-approved irradiation facility in Mumbai under the direct supervision of US inspectors. However, the rejections came without prior intimation to the Mumbai facility.

The Millet bus has missed the rural stop. While the sustained health gain campaign significantly increased the value-added millet consumption in urban and semi-urban areas, it has not caught the imagination of the rural consumers. Data indicates that there is a clear urban preference in favour of value-added millet products and snacks across all millet types, while rural consumers tend to stick to traditional consumption patterns, particularly using millets as staples or in place of rice or wheat.
