"Guava shipment volumes expected to increase 30 to 40 per cent"
Barai would like to expand further into European markets, and to achieve this, the company is providing training to farmers in order to meet the EU market requirements. "Our established markets are found in the United Arab Emirates, Germany, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and France. We do, however, have new targets for guavas this year, mainly countries such as Canada, Belgium, Italy, Australia, Russia, and Denmark. In order to export to European countries, we provide hands-on training for farmers to inform them on EU market requirements, keep them updated on EU compliance, and expand certified organic production."

Canada–India to start discussions on resuming trade talks next week, Piyush Goyal says
India and Canada will resume discussions on a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) next week, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said on Friday, marking a significant thaw in bilateral ties following two years of diplomatic strain.Speaking at FICCI’s 98th Annual General Meeting, Goyal confirmed the renewed engagement, stating: “Canada and India are looking at CEPA. Next week, they are going to kickstart conversations around that.” The development comes after Canada had paused negotiations in 2023 amid tensions triggered by allegations made by then Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Diplomatic momentum picked up only this year after Prime Minister Narendra Modi met his Canadian counterpart Mark Carney on the sidelines of the G7 summit in June.

South Kashmir’s deep freeze helps farmers protect non-CA stored apples
The intense cold has reduced the risk of spoilage for non-controlled-atmosphere (non-CA) stored apple produce, giving farmers who rely on traditional storage methods a rare advantage. For years, farmers, who are unable to afford high-end CA storage facilities, have had to battle rot, over ripening, and heavy losses when storing apples at home or in makeshift sheds. But this winter, with night temperatures dipping to nearly minus 5°C in parts of Shopian and Pulwama, growers say the natural cold is working as an efficient preservative.

Members of Parliament across party lines on Thursday told Commerce Ministry officials that any India-US trade arrangement must safeguard farmers' interests, sources said after a meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Commerce. The panel, chaired by TMC leader Dola Sen, met to review India-US trade relations, with Commerce Secretary Rajesh Agarwal briefing members. Agarwal, who leads India's negotiations with the US, was asked a wide range of questions on the proposed trade deal, tariff issues and their impact on Indian exports, sources added.
