India's banana exports are going steady with demand from Gulf markets ahead of Ramadan, says Utsav Mevada of Avinya International, which exports G9 Cavendish bananas from Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh. Naidu sets 500L tonne target for AP horticulture output. Chief minister Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday directed the officials to plan horticulture cultivation in line with global market demand. He instructed the officials to prepare an action plan with a target to achieve 500 lakh metric tonnes of horticulture output in Rayalaseema, Prakasam, and Markapuram districts. Agriculture minister K Achchennaidu said horticulture cultivation will expand significantly in Rayalaseema, Prakasam, and Markapuram districts once the projects are completed. India: Udupi hosts flower show. The three-day district-level fruit and flower show, themed on the life and achievements of Padma Shri Saalumarada Thimmakka, will be held from Jan 26 to 28 at the horticulture dept's flower auction center (Raitha Seva Kendra) at Shivalli Model Horticulture Farm. The show is open to the public from 10am to 8pm daily. Organized jointly by the district administration, the ZP and the horticulture dept, the show will feature around 7,000 flowering plants across 26 varieties, including petunia, celosia, salvia, chrysanthemum, marigold, hibiscus and pansy. Mozambique centralises rice and wheat imports. The Mozambican Government has assigned the Instituto de Cereais de Moçambique (ICM) exclusive responsibility for managing imports of rice and wheat, in a move aimed at tackling under-invoicing and tax evasion that is costing the state an estimated US$100 million annually. Luís Jobe Fazenda, director of the ICM, told Lusa news agency that the mandate, following a government decision on December 31, addressed longstanding issues in the cereal import sector.
