External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Wednesday held a meeting with Chilean Foreign Minister Francisco Perez Mackenna and said he was 'delighted' to meet him. He also highlighted his discussions aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation. In a post on X, Jaishankar said both sides held 'a very good discussion on strengthening our bilateral cooperation to diversify markets and sourcing, promote export of priority items and facilitating the services economy.'

Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Tuesday said the ongoing global challenges should act as a wake-up call for domestic industry to become self-efficient and productive, make better use of free trade agreements, and reduce dependence on imports to strengthen the economy. He said the world is going through a challenging time as the war in West Asia has certainly disrupted global trade and investment flows, but in these 'trying times', India has a great opportunity to outshine others.

India bans sugar exports till September 2026 to control domestic prices.
India on Wednesday banned sugar exports with immediate effect until September 30, 2026, or until further orders, the government said in a notification, as the world's second-largest sugar producer tries to rein in local prices. The move is likely to support global white and raw sugar prices, while allowing rival producers Brazil and Thailand to boost shipments to Asian and African buyers.

India’s edible oil import bill jumps 19% in H1 of oil year 2025-26, volumes rise over 13%.
The Indian edible oil sector continued to import more edible oils in the first six months of the 2025-26 (November-October) oil year leading to a 13.66 per cent increase in volume and a 19 per cent increase in value. Data compiled by the Solvent Extractors’ Association of India (SEA) showed that the country imported 78.15 lakh tonnes (lt) of edible oils during November ‘25-April ‘26 against 68.76 lt in the corresponding period of the previous oil year, registering a growth of 13.66 per cent.

India wheat procurement tops 30-million tonne mark, heading towards target of 34.5 mt.
Wheat procurement this season has exceeded the 30 million tonne (mt) mark and is heading towards the target of 34.5 mt. For the first time this year, overall purchase has recorded higher volumes than the year-ago level after continuously trailing for the last 40 days since the season began on April 1.

The high-level discussion focused in detail on problems being faced in paddy milling, promotion of crop diversification, conservation of water resources, and sustainable agricultural development through oilseed, pulse, cotton and horticulture missions.

A high-level delegation from the Republic of Chile led by H.E. Mr. Francisco Pérez Mackenna, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Chile, visited India for bilateral engagements aimed at strengthening economic and commercial cooperation between the two countries. The Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER), Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, together with Chief Minister of Mizoram Shri Lalduhoma, today launched the Mizoram Ginger Mission, a Rs. 189.79 crore convergence-led initiative for Ginger Cultivation & Value Chain Development for the State of Mizoram. Anchored by MDoNER, the Mission builds upon convergence with Schemes of Ministries of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Rural Development, Food Processing Industries, along with NABARD, ICAR, APEDA and private investors for processing of Ginger.

Haryana to give Rs 10,000 per acre yearly for 5 years to organic farmers, APEDA certification must.
Farmers adopting natural or organic farming in Haryana will be given a subsidy of Rs 10,000 per acre per year for the next five years. However, to avail the benefit of this scheme, farmers will have to get their produce certified in advance by the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) to ensure quality and reliability of their products.

'The event is expected to attract overseas importers, supermarket chains, sourcing companies, wholesalers, distributors, exporters, producer organisations, logistics companies, and key stakeholders from the global fresh produce sector,' says Mr. M B Naqvi, Chief Co-ordinator of the show.
