Belize And India Explore New Agriculture And Food Security Partnerships.
Belize and India are looking to deepen cooperation in agriculture and food security following a high-level bilateral meeting held this week in Belmopan. According to a government press release issued today, Minister of Agriculture, Food Security and New Growth Industries Rodwell Ferguson and Minister of State in the Ministry of Agriculture Luis Alex Balona met with India’s Minister of State for External Affairs, Shri Pabitra Margherita, during the Indian official’s two-day visit to Belize.

PM Modi reaches Abu Dhabi, marks the beginning of five-nation visit.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi landed in the UAE on Friday, marking the beginning of a five-nation visit that will also include the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway and Italy. Modi landed in Abu Dhabi in the afternoon, where he was welcomed by UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He received a guard of honour after arrival.

The aim of the exhibition was to showcase the products crafted by PMFME scheme beneficiaries spotlighting local entrepreneurship, enhancing scheme awareness and strengthening market linkages for micro food processing enterprises in the region. The exhibition was held at the DC Office Complex in Leh and was jointly organized by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MOFPI) and the Department of Industries and Commerce, UT Administration of Ladakh.

Indian Rice Exporter’s Federation (IREF) has said it is willing to collaborate with APEDA in the Basmati crop survey exercise. The collaboration between APEDA and IREF for the Basmati Crop Survey 2026 can be positioned as a strategic public–industry partnership supporting accurate production forecasting, export planning, farmer outreach, and global credibility of Indian Basmati rice, it said in a letter to APEDA Chairman Abhishek Dev.

Sugar export ban to free up 4-5 lakh tonne for domestic use.
The export ban on sugar amid rising concerns of El Nino is expected to release 4-5 lakh tonnes of sugar, or 1.7% of India's annual sugar requirements, available for domestic consumption. The additional sugar is expected to increase the buffer stock for next year helping ease domestic availability in case sugar production of 2026-27 gets adversely affected by El Nino.

Centre raises MSP for 14 kharif crops, boosts support for pulses and oilseeds.
The government has raised the minimum support price for 14 kharif (monsoon) crops, with oilseeds, pulses and cotton witnessing the highest increase to incentivise farmers to grow these crops. Prices have been increased by Rs 622 per quintal for sunflower seeds, Rs 557 per quintal for cotton, Rs 515 per quintal for nigerseed and Rs 500 per quintal for sesamum.

India targets $1 trillion exports in FY27 as FTAs come into effect, says Goyal.
India can increase its goods and services exports to $1 trillion in FY27, around 16% higher than last year's record high of $863.11 billion as its free trade agreements (FTA) come into effect, commerce and industry minister Piyush Goyal said Wednesday, adding that the trade deals with Chile and the Maldives are slated to be completed by the end of this year.
