HP: CM Sukhu unveils Rs 34.31 crore projects at horticulture varsity.
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Sunday virtually inaugurated and laid foundation stones of development projects worth Rs 34.31 crore at Dr. Y.S. Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, aimed at strengthening agricultural education infrastructure and promoting natural farming in the state. Chief Minister inaugurated a hostel with a capacity of 107 students at the College of Horticulture and Forestry, Neri (Hamirpur), constructed at a cost of Rs. 3.63 crore. Additionally, he inaugurated the administrative building of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra at Tabo in Lahaul and Spiti, built at a cost of Rs. 1.48 crore.

Brazil has overtaken India as the top supplier of corn (maize) to Bangladesh, marking a significant shift in South Asia’s feed grain trade. Though India has permitted an additional 2.5 million tonnes (mt) of wheat exports this rabi marketing season (April-September 2025), it will not have any impact on the global market. 'On paper, this signals a strong return to the export market. In practice, however, pricing indicates a very different story. Exports will occur, but only minimally, in cases where market conditions temporarily align, rather than through sustained global competitiveness,' said New Delhi-based exporter Rajesh Paharia Jain.

W Asia crisis: Rice exports dip 7.5% to $11.53 bn in 2025-26.
The country's rice exports dipped 7.5 per cent to $11.53 billion in 2025-26 due to a contraction in shipments to major destinations including the middle east countries, according to the commerce ministry data. The exports in March declined 15.36 per cent to $997.53 million.

India and Qatar on Thursday held discussions on ways to boost bilateral trade and strengthen supply chain resilience, which has been disrupted due to the West Asia crisis. The meeting was held between commerce and industry minister Piyush Goyal and Qatari minister of state for foreign trade affairs Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Sayed. 'We discussed ways to further enhance our bilateral trade and investment ties. Looking forward to deepening our strategic partnership in the times ahead,' Goyal said in a post on social media.
