The Government of India, in collaboration with the Maharashtra State Government, is making significant strides in enhancing dairying and animal husbandry in the Marathwada region through various initiatives. India and New Zealand to begin talks on FTA after a decade, announces PM Modi.
India and New Zealand have decided to start detailed negotiations on a mutually beneficial free trade agreement, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Monday after talks with his New Zealand counterpart Christopher Luxon. The FTA was stalled in 2015 following their failure to narrow differences in sensitive areas including dairy and agriculture.

35,000 tonnes of rice from India, Vietnam arrive at Bangladesh port.
Two ships carrying 35,000 tonnes of rice from India and Vietnam have arrived at Chittagong port, Bangladesh Food Ministry said in a statement on Monday. 'MV Tanais Dream carrying 22,500 tonnes of parboiled rice from India through an open tender and MV Hong Linh 1 carrying 12,500 tonnes of parboiled rice from Vietnam under the (Government-to-Government) G-to-G agreement executed on February 3, 2025 (2nd shipment) have arrived at Chittagong port', the statement said.

India and EU must work as partners, not as competitors, says Prasada.
India and the European Union (EU) must work together, streamline non-tariff barriers and harmonise standards to remove trade bottlenecks, instead of competing, as the world grapples with economic uncertainty, supply chain disruptions and geopolitical shifts, said Jitin Prasada, minister of state for commerce and industry, and electronics and information technology. He called for Europe to diversify its supply chain and said India has a large talent pool in sectors where Europe needs skilled professionals such as IT, engineering, healthcare and fintech.

Bilateral trade pact on track, but yet to talk US reciprocal tariffs.
India has not broached the issue of reciprocal tariffs in its trade talks with the United States, but the two countries are finalising the scope and schedules of the proposed Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA), officials said. These could be finalised in the next few weeks. New Delhi is proactively engaging with Washington following the positive talks that commerce and industry minister Piyush Goyal had in person with his American counterparts during his recent visit, officials said.

India’s total exports (Merchandise and Services combined) for February2025* is estimated at USD 71.95 Billion, registering a positivegrowth of 3.16 percent vis-à-vis February2024. RBI permits settlement of trade transactions with Maldives in local currencies.
Reserve Bank on Monday said India's bilateral trade transactions with Maldives may also be settled in INR and/or MVR in addition to the ACU mechanism. Asian Clearing Union (ACU) is a payment arrangement whereby the participants settle payments for intra-regional transactions among the participating central banks on a net multilateral basis.

London gets a taste of Odisha’s green papayas.
Green papaya cultivated by tribal women farmers in remote locations of Odisha will now find themselves on the dining tables of London citizens. Grown by a group of 14 women farmer members of the Saptasajya Agro Producer Company of Dhenakal in Odisha, it is the first-even shipment by an FPO in Odisha to London. The FPO exported one tonne of locally-grown premium quality green papaya. Amit Patjoshi, CEO of Palladium Consulting India Pvt Ltd, which was involved in the shipments, said green papaya has good demand in countries such as the UK and Ireland.
