Ukraine foreign min to visit Mumbai on Wednesday to deepen trade ties.
Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha will be visiting the city on Wednesday to deepen trade ties between the war-impacted country and India, organisers said on Sunday. Sybiha will be attending a trade event in the World Trade Centre (WTC) here along with his delegation which includes senior diplomats from his ministry and also Ukraine’s Ambassador to India Oleksandr Polishchuk, as per chairman of WTC Vijay Kalantri.

Tamil Nadu announces special package for paddy growers, international exposure visit for farmers.
Tamil Nadu government will implement a special package to increase the paddy area and food grain production during Kar, Kuruvai and Sornavari seasons, in 29 non-Cauvery Delta districts at an outlay of Rs 102 crore, state Agriculture Minister M R K Panneerslvam informed the Assembly on Saturday. The package includes a subsidy for machine planting and quality certified seeds to farmers. A similar package will be provided to farmers in the Delta districts to increase the area and food grain production during Kuruvai and a sum of Rs 58 crore will be allocated for the purpose, he said.

Tur procurement under Price Support Scheme reaches 1.31 lakh tons: Agriculture Ministry.
The Centre has procured 1,31,000 tonnes of tur so far under the Price Support Scheme (PSS), benefitting 89,219 farmers, the agriculture ministry said on Thursday. Under the PSS for the 2024-25 Kharif season, the ministry has approved the procurement of a total of 13.22 lakh tonnes of tur from nine states -- Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Telangana and Uttar Pradesh.

India, China outperform global trade in 2024, trade resilience stressed in 2025: UNCTAD.
China and India outperformed global trade averages in 2024, UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD) said in its Global Trade Update Friday. It said that trends like the widening deficits of the US and EU with China along with India’s rising deficit with Russia amid shifting energy trade could prompt new tariffs, restrictions, or investment shifts, adding to economic uncertainty.

India-New Zealand FTA talks back on track after 10 years.
India and New Zealand on Sunday announced the resumption of negotiations for a proposed free trade agreement, after it was stalled in 2015 following their failure to narrow differences in sensitive areas including dairy and agriculture. India and New Zealand began negotiating the Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (CECA) in April 2010 to boost trade in goods, services, and investment but the talks stalled after nine rounds of discussions. The ninth round of negotiation was held in 2013.

Tur procurement picks up in major Tur producing states.
The Government of India approved the continuation of the integrated Pradhan Mantri Annadata Aay Sanrakshan Abhiyan (PM-AASHA) Scheme during the 15th Finance Commission Cycle up to 2025-26. The integrated PM-AASHA Scheme is administered to bring-in more effectiveness in the implementation of procurement operations that not only helps in providing remunerative prices to the farmers for their produce but also control the price volatility of essential commodities by ensuring their availability at affordable prices to consumers. Under the Price Support Scheme of the integrated PM-AASHA Scheme, the procurement of the notified Pulses, Oilseeds and Copra conforming to the prescribed Fair Average Quality (FAQ) is undertaken by the Central Nodal Agencies (CNAs) at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) directly from the pre-registered farmers through the State level agencies.
