Govt lifts ban on wheat exports, forbids onion exports

The government decided to lift four year-old ban on wheat exports but prohibited onion exports to control its rising prices. While the ban on non-basmati rice exports was lifted in July after three years with a quantitative restrictions of one million tonnes, it was put on hold by the Delhi High Court following allegations of irregularities in quota .....

Agriculture sector suffers loss of over Rs 256bn in Pakistan

 The ongoing downpour in a number of Sindh’s districts has caused a loss of over Rs 256 billion to the major standing crops on millions of acres, whereas almost all the minor crops, mainly vegetables, have been destroyed, Pakistan Today has learnt. Wholesale Egg, Poultry Product Prices Rule Flat

Poultry producers are a worried lot as wholesale egg prices continue to rule flat on seasonal uncertainties. Prices of poultry products ruled almost flat in Namakkal — the hub of poultry trade — owing to decline in consumption on account of the festival season. Qatar based Company “Mawashi” to import 70,000 sheep from Iran

 Qatar Meat and Livestock Company (Mawashi) has been permitted by Iran to import sheep despite the ban imposed for other countries, reported an Arabic daily yesterday. Mawashi will import 70,000 sheep from Iran and a delegation will visit there soon to check the quality and finalise the price for sheep, said Dafaullah Abdul Ghani, Acting Director of Abattoirs Department of the Company.
