Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Brisbane, Australia, this morning and reported that it was "bright and sunny." He will attend the G20 summit, meet world leaders on its sidelines, and will visit three other Australian cities - Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne. The G20 looks to meet a two per cent increase in its combined growth over five years through economic reform and infrastructure investment. It accounts for 80 per cent of world trade and 85 per cent of global economic production. The meet begins tomorrow.

The United States on Wednesday said the breakthrough bilateral agreement with India on trade facilitation will grant “new momentum” to multilateral efforts at the World Trade Organization (WTO). “We have overcome that delay (caused by India and others) and now have an agreement with India to move forward with full implementation,” US trade representative Mike Froman said. The first multilateral agreement to be signed under WTO in the 20 years of its birth, it will have no conditions attached to it, something which India wanted to keep the food security issue on the table.

A farmer and industry delegation from Pakistan will attend this year's biennial 'Agro Tech and Business Fair' which is to be organized by the CII in coordination with agriculture and food processing ministries from November 22-25 at Chandigarh. Though the delegation from Islamabad will comprise of only private individuals and industry representatives, it is the first time that such a group from Pakistan will attend the Agro Tech where they will attend country specific sessions and exchange notes with their counterparts from India, South Africa and Germany.

The Philippines, the only country in the 10-nation ASEAN to sign a Free Trade Agreement for services and investments with India, today assured that the internal processes for inking the ambitious bilateral pact was underway. The assurance was given to Prime Minister Narendra Modi by Philippines President Benigno Aquino during their bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the India-ASEAN and East Asia summits here. India has formally signed the long-pending pact with the other nine southeast Asian nations -- Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
