New research from Tetra Pak forecasts China and India to drive the global dairy boom. According to the study, a continuing population growth in India and the increasing popularity of milk and other liquid dairy products in China indicate that by the end of this decade, the two countries are expected to account for more than a third of the world's milk.....

‘Genetically modified’ food labels don’t sit well in US

Activists rejoiced last week when a hard-fought battle over international standards for labeling genetically modified food came to an end — finally — after decades of debate. But the agreement, which many say opens the door for labels to be placed on such foods, will probably have little effect on food labels in the U.S. for the foreseeable.....

Europe: Thin balance between supply and demand cucumbers

The sales of cucumbers is still affected by the latest EHEC-crisis. "The problem is not the EHEC-bacteria, but the consumption is lower than before the EHEC-period. The (German) consumer has modified his shopping basket to the situation and they feel comfortable with it", says Jan Dortmans of Scherpenhuizen.....
