Applications Invited for Creation/Expansion of Food Processing Units under PMKSY.
Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Government of India, invites applications under scheme for Creation/Expansion of Food Processing & Preservation Capacities (CEFPPC) of PRADHAN MANTRI KISAN SAMPADA YOJANA (PMKSY) from prospective entrepreneurs belonging to General category for setting up of food processing units outside Mega Food Parks and outside Agro Processing Clusters.

Bangladesh adds nine potato import stations as prices drop and surplus grows.
The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has expanded the number of customs stations for potato imports, adding nine more to facilitate the entry of potatoes from Nepal and Bhutan. This decision aims to diversify the sources of potato imports and reduce reliance on India. The newly included customs stations are Rohonpur in Chapainawabganj, Sonahat in Kurigram, Dhanua Kamalpur in Jamalpur, Nakugaon in Sherpur, Gobrakura and Karaitoli in Mymensingh, and Tamabil, Zakiganj, and Sheola in Sylhet. Previously, imports were limited to four stations, including Benapole and Bhomra. The extension is in place until March, as per a recent gazette.

India, Oman trade ministers discuss advancing FTA negotiations pact.
Trade ministers of India and Oman on Monday reviewed progress of the proposed free trade agreement (FTA) between the two countries and focused on advancing the negotiations for the pact. The agreement was discussed between Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal and Oman's Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousef in Muscat.

Mangaluru hosts key meeting to strengthen trade ties with Japan.
A meeting aimed at strengthening trade relations and encouraging Japanese companies to establish operations in Mangaluru, capitalising on the region’s robust infrastructure, skilled workforce, and strategic connectivity, took place on Wednesday. The session was hosted by Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) President Anand G. Pai, who welcomed a Japanese delegation led by Prof. Gopal Mugeraya, Vice-President of Technical Education at NITTE, along with Prof. Harikrishna Bhat, Director of International Collaborations for the Asia-Pacific Region; Komatsu Shinya, Prefectural Assembly Member and Former Vice Chairman of Japan; Katsutoshi Seiwa, Director of the Industrial Technology Innovation Division, Japan; Ito Susumu, Chief of Industrial Technology; Kotaro Kurosaka, CEO of Sanyo Machinery Company; and Tadashi Ariji, Group Manager at Boehringer Ingelheim Yamagata Factory, at the KCCI Meeting Hall in Mangaluru.

India on course to make its organic agro products more visible in global market: APEDA chairman.
Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) chairman Abhishek Dev said India was on course to make its organic agro products increasingly visible across the global market. He was speaking at the BioFest ’25 recently, a conclave of organic farmers and domestic and global buyers of organic produce, organised by International Competence Centre For Organic Agriculture, (ICCOA), a knowledge and learning centre for all aspects of sustainable and organic agriculture.

India's exports to US up 5.57% to $60 billion in April-December FY25.
The country's exports rose by 5.57 per cent to USD 59.93 billion during April-December this fiscal on account of healthy demand in the American market for domestic goods, according to government data. During December, the shipments increased by 8.49 per cent to USD 7 billion, the data showed. On the other hand, imports during the first nine months of 2024-25 grew by 1.91 per cent to USD 33.4 billion, while in December it was up by 9.88 per cent to USD 3.77 billion.

Plan afoot to allow farmers sell produce to consumers directly.
Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Sunday said the government is working on a model to allow farmers to sell their produce directly to consumers, reducing middlemen's role. Interacting with about 400 farmers after the Republic Day parade at Pusa campus, Chouhan emphasized that the 'farm to consumer' model will help farmers get maximum benefits, an official statement said.

India's exports hit a record high despite a global trade slowdown.
India's Merchandise foreign trade data for October 2024 came packed with a pleasant surprise. The export value of 10 key products was the highest ever in India’s trade history. Non-petroleum product exports were also at a record $34.61 billion. A beaming Sunil Barthwal, commerce secretary, said the October trade performance was not an aberration. 'Not only has our overall exports progress been good, we have broken all records in terms of non-petroleum product exports for April-October, too. If we continue in this manner, we are going to cross $800 billion of exports this year.'
