India has allowed export of 10,000 tonnes of onion to Sri Lanka through the National Cooperatives Exports Cooperative, the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) said in a notification late on Monday.

India’s overall exports (Merchandise and Services combined) in March 2024* is estimated to be USD 70.21 Billion, exhibiting a negative growth of (-) 3.01 per cent over March 2023. Overall imports in March 2024* is estimated to be USD 73.12 Billion, exhibiting a negative growth of (-) 6.11 per cent over March 2023.

India is diversifying its import of pulses to keep domestic prices stable by entering into long-term deals with Brazil and Argentina after several rounds of negotiations, two officials aware of the matter said.
The world’s largest consumer and producer is expected to import over 20,000 tonne of black gram (urad) from Brazil for the first time and unspecified amounts of pigeon pea (tur) from Argentina to meet its domestic requirements.
