National Consultation for Atamanirbharta in Pulse to be held in Sehore under the Chairmanship of Union Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
To accelerate the country’s goal of achieving self-reliance in pulses, a National Consultation and Strategy Meeting will be held on Saturday, 7thFebruary, 2026 at the Food Legume Research Platform (FLRP), Amlaha, Sehore district. The meeting will be chaired by the Union Minister of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare and Rural Development, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan. The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Dr. Mohan Yadav, Minister of State (Agriculture& Farmers Welfare) ShriBhagirath Choudhary and Shri Ram Nath Thakur and Agriculture Ministers from major pulse-growing states will participate in the programme.

Discussions held with Nepal and Maldives to enhance cooperation in the agriculture sector.
Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, and Rural Development, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan held a courtesy meeting today at his residence located at 12, Safdarjung Road, in New Delhi with Nepal’s Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Shri Dr. Madan Prasad Pariyar, and Maldives’ State Minister for Agriculture and Animal Welfare, Ahmad Hassan Didi. During the meeting, there was an extensive discussion on further strengthening mutual cooperation in the agriculture sector between India, Nepal, and Maldives.

Paperwork underway to unlock India–US trade deal potential soon: Piyush Goyal.
India has fully protected sensitive sectors such as agriculture and dairy in the trade deal with the US, commerce and industry minister Piyush Goyal said on Wednesday. India to add more trade muscle as it inks FTA terms with GCC.
India and the six-nation Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Thursday inked terms of reference for starting talks for a Free Trade Agreement (FTA). The West Asian bloc is the largest trading partner of India with bilateral goods trade of $178.56 in FY25. Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman and Bahrain are members of the GCC. The terms of reference (ToR) outline the scope and modalities of a proposed trade pact.

India, US may sign formal trade pact by mid-March.
India and the US are expected to finalise and sign a joint statement on the first part of the proposed bilateral trade agreement (BTA) in four-five days and aim to conclude a formal, legally binding pact by midMarch, commerce and industry minister Piyush Goyal said Thursday. 'India and the US are having a meaningful dialogue. The first tranche of the BTA is almost ready. We will finalise and sign the joint statement in fourfive days. Based on the joint statement, the next leg of the partnership will start,' Goyal said.

Indian rice export prices near one‑month high on firm rupee; Thai, Vietnam rates steady.
Indian rice export prices rose to a near one-month high this week, supported by a modest uptick in demand and a rebound in the rupee from record low ‌levels, while rates in ‌other major hubs like Thailand and Vietnam remained unchanged. India's 5% broken parboiled variety was quoted this week at $353-$359 ‌per ton, its highest since January 8, and up from $351-$356 last week. Indian 5% broken white rice was priced at $351 to $356 per ton this week.

Stockholding limit withdrawn on wheat on sufficient supply.
The government on Thursday said it has withdrawn the stockholding limit on wheat as there is a comfortable stock in the domestic market and prices are declining in the wholesale market. In May 2025, the Centre had imposed limits on wheat stocks that wholesalers, retailers and processors can keep with them. The move was aimed at preventing hoarding and controlling prices.
