The fruit growers and dealers in Kashmir are worried about the adverse effects of the India-US trade deal on local economy but there are voices within the fraternity who claim the agreement will stabilise the prices and improve the quality of the local produce. Javaid Ahmad Lone, a walnut farmer and dealer from south Kashmir Shopian district, said the imported goods from the US will push the local farmers to improve their stock if they want to stay in the business.

India-US trade deal: New Delhi's trade surplus with Washington may cross $90 billion within a year, says SBI Report.
India's trade surplus with the United States may cross USD 90 billion annually, supported by a sharp rise in exports and higher import potential, according to a report by SBI. As per the report, Indian exporters may increase their exports of the top 15 items to the US by around USD 97 billion in a year. World’s Largest Grain Storage Plan in Cooperative Sector.
Balaghat district of Madhya Pradesh was selected as the pilot district under World’s Largest Grain Storage Plan in Cooperative Sector (WLGSP). Under the pilot project one 500 MT godown was constructed at Bahudeshiya Prathamik Krishi Saakh Sahakari Society Maryadit Parswada in Balaghat District. The project has been fully completed and was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Prime Minister on 24 February 2024. The godown has been hired by Madhya Pradesh Warehousing and Logistics Corporation (MPWLC).

India’s edible oil production poised at 9.6 MT in 2025-26.
India’s domestic edible oil output is forecast to reach 9.6 million tonnes in the 2025-26 marketing year (October-September), but this will cover only about 40% of the country’s total demand, industry group Indian Vegetable Oil Producers’ Association (IVPA) has projected. As a result, India is expected to import around 16.7 million tonnes of cooking oils to bridge the gap between demand and domestic supply.
