The delegation visited leading commercial nurseries, biological crop protection companies and research institutions, where it explored disease-free planting material production, integrated pest management, modern orchard mechanisation and potential research collaborations to strengthen the Union Territory’s horticulture sector.

A food business in India can now obtain and retain regulatory approval in ways that would have been difficult to imagine only a few years ago. Under reforms approved by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in March, an FSSAI licence issued today will no longer expire. In Delhi, meanwhile, food businesses can secure a municipal operating licence in as little as five to ten minutes through an online system that links Health Trade Licences directly to FSSAI registration.

US puts India in lower 10% tariff tier; $87 billion exports exempt from extra duty.
The Centre on Saturday said the United States has placed India in the lower 10 per cent tariff bracket under its Section 301 measures on alleged forced labour concerns, describing it as a relative advantage for Indian exports. The government also reaffirmed its commitment to working with Washington for the early conclusion of the India-US Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA).

The global rice harvest may fall mildly.
The International Grains Council (IGC) forecasts the 2026-27 global rice production at a record 543 million tonnes, down 1% from the previous season. Still, this is well above the average global rice production. The decent harvest is mainly in India, the world-leading producer, China, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Thailand, and the Philippines, amongst others.
