India-China border trade via Lipulekh to start from Aug 1, China allows 20 traders to cross border.
Pithoragarh, India-China border trade via Uttarakhand's Lipulekh Pass is set to resume on August 1 after a gap of more than six years, with the neighbouring country granting permission to 20 Indian traders to visit Purang (Taklakot), according to officials. For the first phase, the Chinese administration in Tibet has granted permission for only 20 Indian traders to visit Purang (Taklakot) to check preparedness and their existing stock, officials said on Tuesday.

Agricultural input subsidy for Horticulture crops.
The cost of cultivation of horticultural crops such as orange, kinnow and cash crops like cumin and isabgol, is input and labour intensive due to requirement of quality planting material, fertilizers, irrigation systems and post-harvest infrastructure. On the requests received from various stakeholders and considering the increase in prices of various inputs and materials in the horticulture sector, operational guidelines of the Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) scheme were revised in 2025. Under the revised guidelines, the cost norms of various horticultural crops were enhanced, along with the introduction of the latest technologies used in the horticulture sector. Strengthening of Agricultural marketing.
Agricultural Marketing is a State subject. Government of India has been supporting states to strengthen agricultural marketing and ensure fair and remunerative prices to farmers through policy measures and schemes. Government of India initiated National Agriculture Market (e-NAM), an all-India electronic trading (e-trading) portal by virtually integrating Physical Agricultural Produce Market Committees (APMCs). The platform provides farmers access to a larger pool of buyers through transparent online bidding, better price discovery and direct payment of sale proceeds into their bank accounts. The platform also facilitates inter-State trade by enabling buyers across the country to participate in online bidding. As on 30th June, 2026, 1.89 crore farmers and 2.78 lakh traders are registered on e-NAM. Inter-State trade on e-NAM has increased from 563 MT (Rs. 37 lakh) in 2018-19 to 2,984.3 MT (Rs. 14.28 crore) in 2025-26, with cumulative inter-State trade of 28,566 MT valued at Rs. 83.95 crore. The average number of trader bids per lot has increased from 2.1 in 2016-17 to 2.8 in 2025-26, indicating increased competition among buyers.

Promotion of traditional agricultural produce and seeds.
The Government has taken several measures for conservation, research, production, value addition and promotion of traditional agricultural produce and indigenous/local crop varieties in the country. Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), through the National Bureau of Plant Genetic Resources (NBPGR) and its network of research institutes, undertakes exploration, collection, exchange, characterization, evaluation, conservation and documentation of indigenous germplasm.

India's Exports Scale Record US$ 863.1 Billion in FY 2025–26, Driven by Strong Trade with UAE, UK and Australia.
India recorded highest-ever exports in FY 2025-26 reaching a record US$ 863.1 billion, with merchandise exports reaching US$ 441.8 billion and services exports expanding further to US$ 421.3 billion, reflecting the combined strength of India’s merchandise and services sectors in driving export growth. Destination-wise data is available for merchandise exports and FTA wise India’s merchandise exports during FY 2025-26 is given below in Table 1.

Promoting Agriculture Cooperatives in Hilly Areas.
The Ministry of Cooperation is providing assistance to promote cooperative agriculture, horticulture and marketing of allied products in hilly States, including Uttarakhand through National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC), a statutory corporation under the Ministry of Cooperation. The State-wise details of financial assistance disbursed by NCDC during the last five years (2021-22 to 2025-26) to the hilly States/UTs, including Uttarakhand, are provided at Annexure-I.

Gujarat retained its position as India's leading exporting state in the financial year 2025-26, contributing $110 billion to the country's record merchandise and services exports of $863 billion, underlining the state's central role in India's external trade and manufacturing economy, officials said on Tuesday. The state's export performance was driven by a diverse industrial base that includes engineering products, petroleum products, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, automobiles, gems and jewellery, and electronics.

US calls out India for its farm protectionism, subsidy regime at WTO review.
At the recent trade review meeting at the World Trade Organization (WTO), the US flagged concerns over India's protectionist agricultural policies, urging New Delhi to minimize trade-distorting farm support measures. In its intervention at the WTO review, the US said: 'We continue to urge India to address high levels of protection and unpredictable non-tariff barriers prevalent in the agriculture sector. We call on India to discipline further its production- and tradedistorting agriculture support policies affecting a range of crops, including rice and wheat, in a manner consistent with its commitments under the Agreement on Agriculture.'
