The Telangana government has pegged the procurement volumes for the kharif season at 65 lakh tonnes. To ensure a hassle-free procurement process beginning in the first week of October, the Telangana Civil Supplies Department will roll out a comprehensive ‘SHT’ (Storage, Hamali, and Transport) strategy.

1-day SPFWA soy conclave 2026 to be held in Mumbai on Sept 30.
A one-day soy conclave themed 'Unlocking the Soy Opportunity: Protein, Food, Trade and Innovation' will be held in Mumbai on September 30. Organised by the Soy Food Promotion and Welfare Association (SFPWA) as the SFPWA Soy Conclave 2026, it will bring together senior representatives and stakeholders, including from government, industry, research institutions, processors, food and ingredient companies.

FTAs opening new global opportunities for Indian farmers, says Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Shivraj Singh Chouhan has called on farmers to adopt international quality standards to tap unfolding global opportunities. Stating that the Government had entered into several Free Trade Agreements (FTA) with several countries, he said that these agreements were opening new opportunities for Indian farmers in global markets.

India sets food production target at 178 million tonnes for rabi season.
The Indian government has fixed a Rabi (winter crop) production target of 177.72 million tonnes (mt) of foodgrains. This includes 121 mt of wheat, 17.20 mt of pulses and 22.30 mt of nutri/coarse cereals. As the monsoon rainfall this month (as on September 18) was deficient in major producing States of winter crops, except Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, the weather is going to play a major role in achieving the target amid a forecast of further strengthening of El Nino.

Building on the digital foundation laid by Ayush Grid, the Ministry of Ayush is now advancing Artificial Intelligence as the next frontier for Ayurveda and the wider Ayush sector. The Ministry has been exploring AI across healthcare, research, education, information services and investment facilitation, with an emerging ecosystem that includes both specialised AI applications and broader collaborations with national AI initiatives.

Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, while addressing the concluding session of the Regional Agriculture Conference for Southern States in Hyderabad, directed states to complete their agricultural targets and commitments within the stipulated timelines. He said states must act seriously on the actionable points identified during the day-long deliberations. The conference, he emphasised, must translate into concrete action and measurable outcomes.

शंघाई सहयोग संगठन (एससीओ) के सदस्य देशों के आर्थिक और विदेश व्यापार मंत्रियों की 25वीं बैठक 17 सितंबर 2026 को ताजिकिस्तान के दुशांबे में संपन्न हुई। बैठक में एससीओ सदस्य देशों के बीच आर्थिक और विदेश व्यापार के क्षेत्रों में जारी सहयोग की समीक्षा की गई और एससीओ ढांचे के भीतर व्यापार एवं आर्थिक सहयोग को और सुदृढ़ करने के उपायों पर विचारों का आदान-प्रदान किया गया।

अनधिकृत व्यापार को नियंत्रित करने के लिए व्यापार, पारगमन और सहयोग संबंधी भारत-नेपाल अंतर-सरकारी उप-समिति (आईजीएससी) की बैठक 16 और 17 सितंबर 2026 को नई दिल्ली स्थित वाणिज्य भवन में संपन्न हुई। इस बैठक में भारतीय प्रतिनिधिमंडल का नेतृत्व वाणिज्य विभाग के संयुक्त सचिव श्री उज्ज्वल कुमार घोष ने किया, जबकि नेपाली प्रतिनिधिमंडल का नेतृत्व नेपाल सरकार के उद्योग, वाणिज्य और आपूर्ति मंत्रालय के संयुक्त सचिव बुद्ध बहादुर गुरुंग ने किया। बैठक में दोनों देशों के संबंधित मंत्रालयों और विभागों के वरिष्ठ अधिकारी भी शामिल थे।

India harvests 26.3 million tons of mangoes but trails Mexico in export value.
India produced 26.3 million tonnes of mangoes in 2024, more than six times the output of Indonesia, the second-largest producer, yet Mexico leads the world in mango export value, shipping mangoes worth $575 million in 2023 compared to India's $154 million in the same year. Global mango exports crossed $1.66 billion in 2024, with the market expected to grow at 8% annually through 2029. Demand from Europe, North America, and East Asia is rising. India accounts for 43% of total global mango consumption, leaving a relatively small share of its enormous harvest available for export.
