Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan meets Canadian Premier Mr. Scott Moe : Focus on Agri Trade. A meeting between Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Minister of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, and Shri Scott Moe, Premier of Saskatchewan, Canada, was held today at Krishi Bhawan, New Delhi. Both sides discussed cooperation in agricultural research, technology, equipment, and advanced farming practices. Shri Chouhan highlighted Saskatchewan’s role as a reliable partner for India in agricultural inputs, particularly potash, and welcomed the proposal to establish a Canada–India Pulse Protein Centre of Excellence. India’s achievements in Free Trade Agreements for the year 2025-26. In last one decade, India has emerged decisive and confident: redrawing and redefining the map of global trade and charting modern, future-ready, new generation of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs). India has steadily expanded its network of free trade agreements over the past few years reaching Nine FTAs spanning 38 countries. Starting with India–Mauritius in 2021, the India–UAE Comprehensive Economic partnership agreement followed in May 2022. India–Australia Economic and Trade Agreement was implemented in December 2022. India then signed the EFTA TEPA on 10th March 2024, which entered into force on 1st October 2025. The India–UK CETA was signed in July 2025 and India–Oman CEPA in December 2025. The India–New Zealand FTA was announced on 22nd December 2025, followed by the India–EU FTA on 27th January 2026. With United States, we have delivered framework for an interim agreement on 7th February 2026 and cemented our global trade footprint. Source: pib.gov.in |

Punjab launches massive food safety drive aimed at ensuring pure food. The Punjab Government has announced the launch of a massive statewide food safety drive aimed at ensuring ‘Shudh Ann (pure food)’ reaches every kitchen across the state. As per reports, the Punjab Health Minister, Dr. Balbir Singh, said that this 15-day intensive drive, scheduled from April 1 to April 15, marks a significant escalation in the government’s battle against food adulteration. Centre eases customs rules for export cargo returning to India. The Central government has relaxed customs procedures for export cargo that is returning to India after ships were forced to turn back due to disruptions in key maritime routes, including the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. 'Lighter yields for premium alphonso mangoes in India's Konkan belt'. As India gears up for the 2026 mango season, growers and exporters face a tricky mix of challenges and openings. Yashraj Phatak, a third generation alphonso farmer, Director at ShivKonkan Farmer Producer Company and Partner at Shreevali Agro shares an orchard-level view: 'We are based in Sindhudurg, which is Maharashtra's premium mango heartland representing GI certified farmers with full traceability via MangoNet registration. Overall average production in the Konkan belt is estimated to be significantly lower than a normal year at around 20% of full capacity due to uneven flowering and reduced fruit setting.' Stranded West Asia cargo sees anchor in local market. Exporters with stranded containers at Indian ports due to the West Asia conflict have started filing 'back to town' applications to avoid paying hefty demurrage and detention charges, said people familiar with the developments.
