India attracted $843 billion in FDI between 2014-15 and 2025-26: Official.
India attracted cumulative Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) inflows of USD 843 billion between 2014-15 and 2025-26, registering a 169 per cent increase over the preceding 12-year period, a commerce and industry ministry official said on Wednesday. Despite global economic uncertainties, the country recorded a historic USD 94.53 billion FDI in 2025-26, with over 90 per cent of equity inflows coming through the automatic route, said Sumeet Jarangal, joint secretary in the department for promotion of industry and internal trade (DPIIT).

APEDA to park maximum fee in FDs from non-Basmati export development fund.
An internal committee under the Non-Basmati Rice Development Fund (NBDF), managed by the government’s agri-export promotion body APEDA, has decided to invest all amount above Rs. 1 crore in term deposit (after factoring taxes and administrative charges) whereas the fund was designed to use for promotion of non Basmati export. Between September 25, 2025 and April 30, 2026, APEDA has collected Rs.9.66 crore from non-Basmati rice exporters through the mandatory contract registration fee, official sources said.

Bangladesh wheat tender’s stiff norms likely to keep Indian exporters out.
Bangladesh has floated a global tender to import 50,000 tonnes of wheat, but India will not be able to tap it, given the specification and competitive prices from other origins. On Tuesday (June 9), Bangladesh’s Directorate General of Food’s procurement division issued the tender for importing milling wheat. The tender, which opened on today (Wednesday), closes on June 24.

SAPLING Dialogue 2026 Concludes with Call for concrete action plan for holistic development of the food processing Sector.
The two-day Regional High-Level Policy Dialogue 'SAPLING (South Asian Policy Leadership for Improved Nutrition and Growth) Dialogue 2026', jointly organized by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI), Government of India and the World Bank Group concluded successfully on June 10, 2026 in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The Dialogue, held under the theme 'Unlocking Value: Advancing Food Processing for Employment Generation and Sustainable Growth in South Asia', brought together around 200 participants including policymakers, industry leaders, international organizations, development partners, researchers, startups, financial institutions, and representatives from South Asian countries to deliberate on strengthening resilient, inclusive, and sustainable food systems in the region. The Union Minister for Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Shri Chirag Paswan, while addressing the inaugural session, highlighted India’s growing role as a global food processing hub and emphasized the importance of value addition, technology adoption, and regional collaboration in transforming South Asia’s food economy.

FSSAI notifies vegan food norms, establishes new standardised logo.
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has officially notified the Food Safety and Standards (Vegan Foods) Amendment Regulations, 2026, establishing a new, standardised logo for vegan products. Under this directive, it is now compulsory for all approved vegan food items sold in the country to prominently display the prescribed logo, starting July 1, 2027.
