Indian mango prices rise as early Alphonso supply remains limited. Hapus or Alphonso mangoes from the Konkan region have been arriving in Pune's Gultekdi market for the past few weeks, but supply remains limited, and prices are elevated. India has requested greater market access for its exports of pomegranate, garlic, grapes and raisins to Brazil, Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said Friday after meeting his Brazilian counterpart, Minister for Agrarian Development and Family Farming Luiz Paulo Teixeira Ferreira. 'Talks are ongoing in Brazil regarding the export of Indian pomegranates, garlic, grapes, and raisins. Brazil seeks to broaden chicken trade with India. A Brazilian trade delegation in India is seeking opportunities to sell more Brazilian chicken to the Asian country in return for opening up its home market to some Indian fruit and nuts, Brazil's Agriculture Ministry and industry group ABPA said. India, New Zealand hold first joint working group meeting on horticulture cooperation. India and New Zealand recently convened the inaugural Joint Working Group (JWG) meeting on horticultural cooperation, marking a key milestone in bilateral agricultural collaboration under the Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) signed on 12 March 2025. The meeting, co-chaired by Priya Ranjan, Joint Secretary (Horticulture), Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare (DA&FW), and Steve Ainsworth, Divisional Manager, Bilateral Relations and Trade from New Zealand (joining virtually), brought together senior officials and technical experts from both countries. India strengthens global food security with five-year rice supply deal with World Food Programme. The Food Corporation of India (FCI) and the World Food Programme (WFP) recently signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to supply rice for global humanitarian operations, reinforcing India’s commitment to combating hunger and supporting international food security efforts. The agreement, inked in New Delhi on 18 February 2026, was signed by Rabindra Kumar Agarwal, chairman and managing director of FCI, and Carl Skau, deputy executive director of the World Food Programme, in the presence of senior officials from the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution.
