India’s horticulture production rises to 378 mln ton in 2025-26, says Govt.
Horticulture production, comprising fruits, vegetables, spices, plantation crops and honey, is estimated at a record 377.78 million tonnes (mt) in the 2025-26 crop year (July-June), up from 370.74 mt a year ago, aided by a marginal increase in acreage and improved yields across several crops. The total area under horticulture crops is estimated at 30.15 million hectares (mh) in 2025-26, marginally higher than 30.14 mh in 2024-25, the Agriculture Ministry said, while releasing the second advance estimates for the crop year ending this month.

Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Shri Piyush Goyal, will visit Berne, Switzerland, on 12 June 2026 for discussions with senior representatives of the Swiss Government and leaders of the Swiss pharmaceutical industry. The visit underscores the importance India attaches to its economic engagement with Switzerland and the other EFTA States. India and the EFTA States—Switzerland, Norway, Liechtenstein and Iceland—signed the Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA) in March 2024, which entered into force in October 2025. The Agreement provides a comprehensive framework for strengthening trade, investment and economic cooperation between the two sides.

Parliamentary panel reviews India-US trade ties, export opportunities in Raipur.
A Parliamentary standing committee on commerce, headed by Rajya Sabha MP Dola Sen, held a series of meetings in Raipur on Thursday to assess India-US trade relations, with discussions focusing on boosting exports of agricultural and processed food products and interactions with senior state officials. The committee spoke to senior Chhattisgarh govt officials, representatives of banks, insurance institutions, export promotion agencies and industry bodies as part of its study tour covering Ahmedabad, Raipur and Bhubaneswar.

Nepal Has Not Banned Indian Mangoes, Says Govt; 149 Consignments Exported Since Jan.
The government on Wednesday dismissed as 'factually incorrect and misleading' media reports claiming Nepal has banned or suspended imports of Indian mangoes, saying exports to the neighbouring country continue uninterrupted. The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare said Nepal's Plant Quarantine and Pesticide Management Centre has itself clarified on June 10 that no ban has been imposed on Indian mangoes.

Maharashtra storms damage 18,121 hectares of bananas.

Agriculture Ministry's FY27 budget at Rs 1.4 lakh crore a five-fold jump from 2013-14 level.
The Narendra Modi-government has increased the annual budget for the agriculture ministry by five-fold in the last 12-years to Rs 1.4 lakh crore for the current fiscal as part of its efforts to boost the farm sector and enhance farmers' income. According to a booklet released by the government to mark Modi's tenure as India's longest-serving prime minister, the budget for the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare is Rs 1.4 lakh crore for 2026-27 fiscal as against Rs 27,663 crore in 2013-14.
