Following the federal government’s sudden restriction on the import of mangoes and several other fruits from India, markets in Janakpurdham are now largely stocked with locally grown mangoes, while fruit traders say the decision has left them increasingly worried about supply and business sustainability. In a significant development for India’s agri and marine exports, India has been included on the list of countries authorised to export aquaculture products, eggs, honey, and animal casings to the European Union beyond September 2026 under the amended European Union regulatory framework. The European Union has notified an amendment to Regulation (EU) 2021/405 through Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2026/1189 in view of growing concerns relating to Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR). The revised regulation will come into effect from September 2026 and lays down additional requirements for countries exporting specified animal-origin products to the European Union.

India is pushing for preferential new tariffs from the United States as part of talks to finalise an interim trade deal with Washington, an Indian trade official said on Monday. The U.S. and India reached an initial understanding on a trade deal in February, but negotiations slowed after U.S. President Donald Trump's sweeping tariff measures were struck down by the U.S. Supreme Court.

India exported more than 1,000 tons of mangoes on passenger flights between March and May 2026, with varieties such as Alphonso and Kesar shipped to international destinations including London, New York, Frankfurt, and Dubai. According to Air India, the airline transported more than 3,300 tons of agricultural produce, including fruits and vegetables, during the three-month period. Mangoes accounted for more than 1,000 tons of the total volume.

Indian state exports first commercial mango shipment to UK.
Jharkhand in eastern India has become the latest state in the country to export fresh mangoes to the UK. According to export development agency Apeda, the first commercial consignment from the state departed Kolkata on 4 June bound for London, exported by Agrofresh.
