Telangana to procure 15 lakh tonne of maize.
With maize prices ruling far below the minimum support price, the Telangana government has decided to intervene and procure at least one-third of the estimated output of 43.20 lakh tonne (lt). The government would spend Rs. 4,173 crore to procure 14.89 lt of maize at the MSP of Rs. 2,400 a quintal. The Cabinet has cleared the proposal and agreed to provide the required guarantee to help Telangana State Cooperative Marketing Federation Limited (TS MARKFED) raise the required funds.

Odisha to sign 25 MoUs for setting up food and beverage firms in the State this fiscal.
The Odisha government plans to sign at least 25 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) during the current fiscal year in the food and beverages sector, said Hemant Sharma, Additional Chief Secretary, Home, Industries Department and I&PR, Government of Odisha. 'The food and beverage sector, which is treated as a priority sector, has demonstrated significant growth and investment momentum in Odisha. A total of 33 industries have been proposed, with an estimated investment of Rs. 7,655 crore and the potential to generate 14,532 employment opportunities in 2025-26,' he told businessline over the phone from Bhubanesw

Visit of Indian delegation for discussions on Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA) between India-United States (U.S.) from 20th-23rd April 2026 at Washington D.C..
India and the United States issued a Joint Statement on 7th February 2026 agreeing on a framework for an Interim Agreement regarding reciprocal and mutually beneficial trade. The framework reaffirmed the countries’ commitment to the broader India-U.S. Bilateral Trade Agreement negotiations. In pursuance thereof, the Indian side visited Washington D.C. for in person round of meetings with their U.S. counterparts to finalize the details of the Interim Agreement and take forward the negotiations under the broader BTA.

HP: CM Sukhu unveils Rs 34.31 crore projects at horticulture varsity.
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Sunday virtually inaugurated and laid foundation stones of development projects worth Rs 34.31 crore at Dr. Y.S. Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, aimed at strengthening agricultural education infrastructure and promoting natural farming in the state. Chief Minister inaugurated a hostel with a capacity of 107 students at the College of Horticulture and Forestry, Neri (Hamirpur), constructed at a cost of Rs. 3.63 crore. Additionally, he inaugurated the administrative building of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra at Tabo in Lahaul and Spiti, built at a cost of Rs. 1.48 crore.

Brazil displaces India as largest exporter of corn to Bangladesh.
Brazil has overtaken India as the top supplier of corn (maize) to Bangladesh, marking a significant shift in South Asia’s feed grain trade. For years, India dominated this corridor, leveraging price competitiveness, proximity and faster delivery cycles to meet Bangladesh’s growing demand. That edge has eroded since 2024, as rising domestic use of maize for ethanol production squeezed exportable surplus.
