Indian ‘s rice procurement up 4% in 11 months until August. India’s rice procurement in the 2024-25 season (October-September) has reached 545.22 lakh tonnes (lt) until August 31, up from 525.22 lt a year ago. Due to higher procurement, the government is now planning a roadmap to dispose of as much surplus grain as possible. Odisha lemons exported to United Kingdom for first time. Farmers in Chendipada of Odisha's Angul district have exported lemons to the United Kingdom for the first time. Around 500 acres (202 hectares) in the region are under lemon cultivation, where the crop is considered an agricultural lifeline. Until now, farmers faced difficulties due to the absence of proper marketing facilities. European buyers bought more Indian basmati this year as Pakistan’s was expensive, says Tilda brand owner Ebro. European buyers purchased more basmati from India this year than from Pakistan, as the latter was $250 a tonne more expensive, according to Graham Carter, Managing Director of Ebro India Pvt Ltd. 'Pakistani basmati was consistently $250-plus more expensive than Indian this year. Two years ago, we had the reverse.
