Over 1.4 Lakh Food Processing Projects Approved Under MoFPI Schemes to Boost Rural Economy.
In order to enhance food processing infrastructure and to align with the vision of Viksit Bharat, Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) has been incentivizing setting up/expansion of related infrastructure through its two Central Sector Scheme Pradhan Mantri Kisan SAMPADA Yojana (PMKSY) and Production Linked Incentive Scheme for Food Processing Industry (PLISFPI) and a Centrally sponsored- Pradhan Mantri Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) scheme across the country.

The One District One Product (ODOP) program to facilitate balanced regional development throughout the country.
The One District One Product (ODOP) program is an initiative of the Ministry of Food Processing Industries designed to facilitate balanced socio-economic development throughout the country. The initiative aims to choose, brand, and promote one product from each district of the country, all products under the project being chosen by the States and Union Territories based on the unique attributes of their local ecosystems, except items designated under Districts as Export Hubs (DEH) and GI-tagged products.

Cabinet approves total outlay of Rs.6520 crore including additional outlay of Rs.1920 crore for ongoing Central Sector Scheme 'Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana' (PMKSY) during 15th Finance Commission Cycle (2021-22 to 2025-26).
The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today has approved a total outlay of Rs.6520 crore including additional outlay of Rs.1920 crore for ongoing Central Sector Scheme 'Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana' (PMKSY) during 15th Finance Commission Cycle (FCC) (2021-22 to 2025-26).

Expansion of PMFME Scheme.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro food processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme, 1,44,517 Loans have been sanctioned for Credit Linked Subsidy to individual micro food processing units and groups (SHGs, FPOs, cooperatives) till 30th June 2025.

Food Processing Units Operating Under Public Private Partnership.
Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) does not support food processing projects in Public Private Partnership (PPP) model. However, MoFPI is implementing two Central Sector Schemes namely Pradhan Mantri Kisan SAMPADA Yojana (PMKSY) Scheme and Production Linked Incentive Scheme for Food Processing Industry (PLISFPI). These schemes are demand driven in nature and applications are invited through Expression of Interest (EoI) from time to time. Subsidy/incentives are provided as per the respective schemes guidelines.

Cashew sector see no threat from US tariff, say exporters.
Indian cashew exporters not worried over the imposition of 25 per cent tariff by the Donald Trump administration, said exporters. Pankaj N Sampat of Samson Traders said the say cashew shipments to the US markets are very small and the emerging situation will not have any major direct impact on the sector. However, the US tariff on cashews from all origins —ranging from 10 to 25 per cent —will mean that the consumers in that country will have to pay more for cashews (and all other imported products). This can have short term impact on cashew consumption in the US.

India's Rice Exports To Remain Resilient Despite 25% US Tariff: Exporters' Association.
An association of rice exporters on Thursday said the 25% tariff imposed by the US on Indian goods, including rice, will be a 'temporary hurdle' and not a major disruption for the sector. The new tariff, effective from Aug.1, includes duties on Indian rice exports to the US, which stood around 2.34 lakh tonnes in fiscal 2024, a small share of India's total 52.4 lakh tonnes of global basmati rice.

Govt committed to safeguarding India's farmers, workers and entrepreneurs: Piyush Goyal on US tariffs in LS.
In response to the United States' decision to impose a 25% tariff on Indian goods and American President Donald Trump’s critical remarks about the Indian economy, Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal told the Lok Sabha on Thursday that the government stands firm in protecting the interests of Indian farmers, workers, and entrepreneurs. Goyal, in a suo motu statement in the Lok Sabha, said the government is studying the implications of these tariff announcements, which take effect from August 1.
