MoFPI Approves 1,601 Projects Under PMKSY; Rs.6,411 Crore Grant-in-Aid Disbursed as of June 2025. The Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) is implementing a Central Sector Umbrella scheme 'Pradhan Mantri Kisan SAMPADA Yojana (PMKSY)'. As on 30.06.2025, under the various component schemes of PMKSY, 1601 projects have been approved and Grant-in-aid of Rs. 6411.61 Crores has been disbursed/released to these projects. Govt may focus on extending support measures to sectors hit hard by US tariffs. The government may prioritise support measures for sectors, like textiles and chemicals, which would be severely impacted by the US tariffs, under the export promotion mission, industry sources said on Thursday. The issues were discussed in the commerce ministry's consultations with exporters from the textiles and chemicals sectors to assess the impact and explore possible support measures, they added. R&D Initiatives for Developing Food Processing Technologies. The Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) does not undertake Research and development work on its own. However, MoFPI is implementing a Research and Development Scheme, which is a part of Human Resource & Institutions Scheme under the umbrella scheme i.e. Pradhan Mantri Kisan SAMPADA Yojana (PMKSY). Under the scheme, financial assistance as Grant-in-aid is given to various Universities, IITs, Central/ State Government Institutions, Government funded organizations, R&D laboratories and CSIR recognized R&D units in private sector to promote and undertake demand driven R&D work in food processing sector. The objective of the scheme is to benefit food processing industry in terms of product and process development, efficient technologies, improved packaging, value addition etc. with commercial value along with standardization of various factors viz. additives, colouring agents, preservatives, pesticide residues, chemical contaminants, microbiological contaminants and naturally occurring toxic substances within permissible limits. Govt proposes 2022-23 as base year for GDP, IIP: Minister. The government has proposed 2022-23 as new base year for the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and Index of Industrial Production (IIP), and 2024 for Consumer Price Index (CPI), Parliament was informed on Wednesday. 'The Ministry is underway to revise the base year of GDP, IIP and CPI. The base year is revised periodically to better capture the structural changes happening in the economy by updating the methodology of compilation and incorporation of new data sources,' Minister of State for Statistics & Programme Implementation said in a written reply to Lok Sabha. Philippines delegation agrees to boost food imports from India: IREF. A high-level delegation from the Philippines has discussed with APEDA and the Indian Rice Exporters Federation to boost imports of key Indian food products, an industry official said on Wednesday. The agreement includes a commitment from the Philippines to prioritise increased imports of essential items from India, such as rice, buffalo meat, vegetables, fruits, and peanuts, Indian Rice Exporters Federation Chairman Prem Garg said in a statement.
