Govt asks select States to increase inter-state trade on e-NAM platform. The Centre is preparing to roll out e-NAM 2.0, and States may have to make some changes in their Agricultural Produce Marketing Committee (APMC) Acts. This will be a preparatory step by the Centre to ensure that more inter-State transactions happen over the e-NAM platform. Through hand holding of States, traders are being persuaded to buy though e-NAM. Corporates start procuring agri products directly from FPOs, bypassing mandis. In a new initiative aimed at streamlining agricultural trade and increasing farmer incomes, corporates have begun directly procuring agricultural produce from farmer producer organisations (FPOs). This development follows the government’s recent strategy of hosting weekly webinars to connect FPOs with major companies. Many FPOs were previously unaware of the possibility of selling their produce directly to companies. FSSAI issues guidelines for acceptance of rPET as Food Contact Material. The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India has issued guidelines for acceptance of recycled Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) as Food Contact Material (FCM-rPET). According to FSSAI, these guidelines pertain only to the recycling process/operation of transforming post-consumer PET used for food applications into recycled PET as Food Contact Material (FCM-rPET) resins suitable for making Food Contact Materials and cover the acceptance criteria for using (FCM-rPET) resin in Food Contact Materials, apply only to recycling technology approved by FSSAI and do not apply to production of resins for non-food grade consumer applications. The Central government is committed to enhance farmers’ income by increasing production across crops in agriculture and allied sectors, Raghavendra Bhatta, Deputy Director General (Animal Science) of ICAR has said. The ongoing ‘lab to land’ initiative under the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan would significantly enhance productivity in the coming seasons. India and the EU have reached consensus on almost half of the topics to be covered by a trade deal they hope to seal this year and have agreed that the pact will not cover some 'sensitive' farming products such as dairy, according to people with knowledge of the talks. India has called for action to curb non-tariff barriers, address trade distortions caused by non-market economies, and restore a strong dispute settlement mechanism at the WTO, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said on Wednesday.
