India-Russia trade via INSTC doubles in past year. Trade between India and Russia using the International North South Transport Corridor (INSTC) doubled in the past year with New Delhi increasing the volume of exports as it looks to reduce its substantial large trade deficit with Moscow. INSTC connects western India with Russia through Iran. The corridor’s eastern route is considered the most convenient among all its three branches in terms of volume of goods transportation and geographical coverage. India, Qatar forge strategic partnership, set $28 billion trade goal at Modi-Al Thani summit. India and Qatar on Tuesday elevated their ties to strategic partnership and decided to double the current trade of $14 billion in the next five years at the summit held here between PM Narendra Modi and Qatar Emir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani. Two agreements and five memorandums of understanding were signed during the visit. The first agreement is on the establishment of a bilateral strategic partnership. A revised double taxation avoidance agreement was also signed. Both the sides also signed MOUs during the visit, including on economic partnership, cooperation in the area of archives and documentation and youth affairs and sports. India, Italy hold discussion to strengthen collaboration in agriculture, defence and space. India and Italy held discussions in the national capital to enhance collaboration in key sectors such as agriculture, defence, space, infrastructure, and transport. Ministries soon to chart export promotion paths. An inter-ministerial consultation will be held soon to finalise schemes for exporters under the export promotion mission, announced in the Budget for 2025-26, a senior official said on Monday. Indian industry body calls for broken rice exports as stocks surge. India needs to allow the export of 100% broken rice after inventories of the grain reached a record high at the start of February, nearly nine times the government's target, exporters told Reuters. Exports of 100% broken rice could help reduce stocks in the world's biggest exporter and enable poor African countries to secure the grain at lower prices, as well as support Asian animal feed and ethanol producers that rely on the grade.
