New agriculture policy likely to boost horticulture through contract farming. Goa’s new agricultural policy, unveiled on Tuesday, is likely to open new avenues for horticulture crop cultivation with the possible introduction of contract farming in the state. Gujarat pulses exports double to 2,47,789 tonnes from April to January. Gujarat recorded a substantial rise in the export of pulses, guar gum, and dairy products from April of last year to January, according to a release. According to the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) report, pulse exports surged to an impressive 2,47,789 tonnes during this period, doubling last year’s figures. Exporters have also benefitted from the favourable dollar value, contributing to the rise in exports, the release stated. World Pulses Day observed on February 10, promotes pulse cultivation and productivity. Government approves implementation of transportation component of Market Intervention Scheme for Tomato through NCCF. In view of the falling prices of tomato in Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and other major producing states, Government of India has taken decision to implement the transportation component of Market Intervention Scheme (MIS). Under this scheme where there is a difference in the price of TOP crops (tomato, onion and potato) between the producing and consuming States, the operational cost incurred in storage and transportation of crops from the producing State to other consuming States will be reimbursed to Central Nodal Agencies (CNA) like NAFED and NCCF, in the interest of farmers of producing states.
