Kerala budget 2025: New scheme to make state horticulture hub.
The finance minister announced that the agriculture sector recorded an improved growth rate over the past three years. There was an increase in vegetable production in the state from 6.28 lakh tonnes in 2015-16 to 17.2 lakh tonnes in 2023-24 through more infrastructure development in the agriculture sector. An amount of Rs 727.40 crore is provided for the plan schemes and Rs 115.50 crore is expected as central assistance.

‘Bengal has a target to double exports by next decade’.
During the sectoral session on international trade at Bengal Global Business Summit (BGBS) on Thursday, foreign delegates were briefed by state exporters on their objective of increasing the overseas export volume of crops, apparel, textiles and leather goods. Industrialists from Bengal are seeking foreign investment opportunities in key sectors such as maize- and rice-based agriculture, solar pumps, multipurpose cold storage facilities with advanced technology, the export of raw honey, exotic fruits and flowers, worldwide commodity-specific marketing channels, and the establishment of a centre for transportation and logistics and inland container depots, among others.

Bangladesh: 133 truckloads of fruits imported thru Benapole land port after 2-day suspension.
A total of 133 truckloads of fruits were imported into the country through Benapole land port after the traders resumed fruit imports on Thursday. Prior to Thursday, fruit imports remained suspended for two days as importers went on a strike in protest against a hike in supplementary duty. Assistant Commissioner of Benapole Customs House Md Shahadat Hossain said 70 trucks entered the port on Thursday while 63 more trucks arrived by 9:00pm on Saturday, reports UNB.

India in talks with EU to resolve new trade regulations: Piyush Goyal.
Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Friday said India is in talks with the European Union to resolve issues related to the new EU trade regulations. Responding to queries on EU trade barriers in the Rajya Sabha, Goyal said the EU has introduced new regulations for their own industries. 'There is certainly an issue where the EU has come up with new regulations which we are actively discussing with them to resolve,' he said.

Bangladesh HC in New Delhi suggests govt to import sugar from India.
As India allowed its mills to export sugar after two years, the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi has recommended the authorities concerned to consider importing the sweetener from the neighbouring country. The commission communicated the development recently with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs which was forwarded to the Ministry of Commerce and suggested taking necessary measures in this regard.

India's exports may touch record $800 bn this year: Piyush Goyal.
India's exports are growing significantly and would achieve a record USD 800 billion in 2024-25 fiscal year, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said on Friday. 'Exports have been growing and have risen significantly in the last four years. This year also, there will be growth. We will end the year with over USD 800 billion exports for the very first time in India's history,' Goyal said during Question Hour in the Rajya Sabha.

Govt to upgrade e-NAM platform to promote inter-state and inter-mandi trade: Chouhan in Rajya Sabha.
The Centre will upgrade e-NAM platform to facilitate onboarding of logistic service providers in a move to address logistic hurdles faced in inter-state and inter-mandi trade, Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said in Parliament on Friday. Inter-state trade of 23,121 tonnes worth Rs 65.48 crore has been recorded on e-NAM platform till December 2024, he said in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha.
