India mulling imposition of Customs duty on masur as imported produce sells cheaper.
The Indian government is actively considering ending the duty-free import of masur (lentil) even before March 31, which is the deadline of the sop provided to importers to bolster domestic stock. The notification on the duty is likely to be issued next week after an inter-ministerial panel approves the proposal, sources said. However, it is not immediately known if import duty will be levied on chana (gram).

e-NAM Platform expanded to boost agricultural trade with addition of 10 New commodities and their tradable parameters.
In response to the continuous demand from farmers, traders and other stakeholders for inclusion of more agricultural commodities, the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Government of India has decided to further expand the scope of trade under e-NAM. This initiative aims to increase the coverage of agricultural commodities and offer more opportunities for farmers and traders to benefit from the digital trading platform, Directorate of Marketing and Inspection (DMI) has formulated tradable parameters for 10 additional agricultural commodities. These new commodities parameters are a result of extensive consultation with key stakeholders, including state agencies, traders, subject matter specialists and SFAC and with approval from the Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

UK trade commissioner bates for greater cooperation with India.
While India played against England at the VCA grounds, around 10km away, the UK's trade commissioner for South Asia, Harjinder Kang, advocated enhanced cooperation between the two countries as he addressed businessmen at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Nagpur on Thursday afternoon. He was hosted by Nagpur First, a voluntary organisation that works on promoting investments in the region.

Indian rice offered at lowest price in Bangladesh tender for 50,000 tons.
The lowest price offered in the tender from Bangladesh's state grains buyer to purchase 50,000 metric tons of rice which closed on Thursday was assessed at $434.77 a metric ton CIF liner out, traders said. The offer was made for Indian origin rice by trading house Agrocorp, they said.

Exporters encouraged to trade new rice varieties.
Aimed at promoting export opportunities for non-basmati rice varieties, Anbil Dharmalingam Agricultural College and Research Institute (ADAC&RI) here on Wednesday conducted a workshop for farmers, entrepreneurs, and exporters. Anantapur to become Fruit Bowl of India.
The Andhra Pradesh government will provide policy sup-port to make Anantapur district the country’s horticulture hub with 25 per cent of the State’s GVA by 2027, said Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav at Anantapur on Wednesday. Inaugurating the first Anantapur Horticulture Conclave, Keshav said that the district had exported more than one lakh tonnes of bananas recently to Iran through Container Corporation of India train rakes.
