The cherry import season in India kicks off this month, with the first shipment expected around October 20th, says Arun Uttamchandani, owner of Mumbai-based importer Pushpbhuj Impex. 'We import from multiple origins, including Australia, Chile, and the USA. The Chilean shipment marks the arrival of fresh cherries for the season, which will last until February. Australian cherries will follow early November, while the USA import season runs from late May through August.'

'The good news is that Iranian supply has increased by 150%, making their fruit far cheaper this season. New Zealand kiwis tend to be the priciest, with Chile close behind.'

Russia – the world’s leading sunflower oil producer – is planning to increase exports to India in a bid to replace Ukrainian supplies that are being redirected to Europe, according to a Reuters report quoting the state agricultural export agency. India was a major buyer of Russian energy, and the two countries had maintained close ties despite pressure from the USA on India to curb purchases, the 26 September report said.
