Indonesia lifts ban on peanut imports but exporters not showing interest.
Indonesia has lifted the suspension on peanut imports from India, but Indian exporters are not showing interest in resuming supplies to Indonesia. Exporters say that the new procedures implemented by Indonesia are extremely stringent and commercially risky.

Indian exports to China surge amid improving ties.
India’s exports to China surged in December amid an improvement in bilateral ties between the Asian neighbours, official data showed. Figures released by the Commerce Ministry this week showed that shipments to China rose 67.35% year-on-year in December.

India-EU FTA to make Italian wine accessible in India: Antonio Bartoli.
Ambassador of Italy to India, Antonio Bartoli, remained optimistic about the India-European Union Free Trade Agreement (FTA) and said that Italian wine could become more accessible to the Indian public. Antonio Bartoli spoke to ANI at the second edition of the Vinitaly India Roadshow in Goa, an international tour to promote Italian wine in global markets. 'Wine is a great channel of communication. We would like to promote Italian wine. We hope that these products can be more accessible to the Indian public thanks to the free trade agreement that we hope can be closed soon,' he said.

UAE, India eye expanded imports of Kazakh meat.
According to the ministry's press service, the sides discussed the issues of development of the trade-economic cooperation and prospects for the delivery of Kazakhstan’s livestock products to the markets of UAE and India. The foreign side expressed interest in the import of lamb and other halal meat products, meeting the international veterinary-sanitary and quality requirements. It was noted that the growing consumer market of India opens additional opportunities for expanding the export of home-produced livestock products.

In a landmark achievement for India’s agri-exports, the first-ever air shipment of Karnataka’s GI-tagged produce has been successfully flagged off to the Maldives. India–New Zealand FTA cuts tariffs on cherries and apricots.
Under the agreement, tariff arrangements have been set out for cherries and apricots entering the Indian market. Import duties on cherries will be reduced from the current level of 33% to zero through a phased elimination over a ten-year period from the agreement's start date. For apricots, tariffs will be reduced by half over five years, lowering duties from 33% to 16.5%.

'Turkey, Egypt grab early share as Indian red onion season lags by 45 days'.
India's red onion production is 15-20% lower in the 2025-26 season, resulting from a 45-day delay from unseasonal May-November rains across key states, says Shvam Dhumal of Agroindis Exim Pvt. Ltd., a fresh produce exporter from Maharashtra. 'Last year, November-December experienced lower arrivals from 40 to 60 day delays in Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Gujarat, but despite this season's challenges, overall availability and quality now exceed expectations,' he says.

India, EU aim to have FTA ready ahead of leaders' meet on Jan 27: Commerce secretary.
India is close to signing a long-coveted trade deal with the European Union this month, trade secretary Rajesh Agrawal said on Thursday, in what would be the South Asian nation's largest pact yet as it chases new markets amid US tariff pressure. Agrawal said the two sides were 'very close' to finalising the agreement and were exploring whether it could be wrapped up before leaders from both sides meet in New Delhi this month.
