ET World Leaders Forum: Madhya Pradesh alone accounts for Rs 66,000 crore in exports, says Mohan Yadav.
States must strive for self-reliance, remain sensitive to the Centre's concerns, and seek its blessings to ensure progress, Madhya Pradesh chief minister Mohan Yadav said. Speaking at the ET World Leaders Forum, he said that states should not worry about capital expenditure in the larger interest of development. 'MP is not taking loans from anyone,' he said, adding that only three states-Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Madhya Pradesh-are spending money for growth without borrowing.

'Jammu and Kashmir field reports point to a moderate-to-good apple crop'.
According to Shah, there's been a shift in cultivation towards Gala varieties, among other options. 'Looking at dominant varieties, the Delicious group, consisting of Red, Royal, and improved strains, remains a large base in Kashmir. There is a rapid shift to early coloring, high-return cultivars, such as Gala strains, Red Velox, Jeromine, Super Chief, and Scarlet Spur on M9 rootstock. This shift has to do with an earlier harvest, better color uniformity, and higher pack-outs.'

Favorable weather conditions lead to higher yields for guava in India.
With the higher production, Jaiswal states that it's positive that the international demand for the guava from India has also increased in recent years. 'Good rainfall and generally favorable climatic conditions have directly led to an increase in yield per hectare, supporting higher volumes for both domestic and international markets. Over the past few years, we've witnessed a consistent upward trend in international demand, which is both encouraging and motivating for us as exporters. Especially the increasingly popular Thai variety continues to grow in export markets.'

Kenya turns to India for rice imports as farmers decry unsold harvests.
Kenya has announced plans to import half a million tonnes of rice duty-free, mostly from India and Pakistan, to address what it calls an imminent shortage. But the decision has sparked outrage among local farmers, who insist they are already sitting on unsold stocks from recent good harvests and warn that cheap imports will devastate their livelihoods.

India, Russia agree to boost trade ties after foreign ministers meet in Moscow.
India and Russia agreed to boost trade ties on Thursday as their foreign ministers met in Moscow, giving little indication that U.S. President Donald Trump's hefty tariffs on India for buying Russian oil would disrupt their relations. Indian goods face additional U.S. tariffs of up to 50%, among the highest imposed by Washington, due to New Delhi's increased purchases of Russian oil.
